For a beginner, the key is to treat those as options rather than assume there is one correct way through every encounter: gather information, choose an approach, and adapt when circumstances change.
How should you approach your first encounters?
Start by observing before you commit. IO Interactive describes spycraft actions such as listening to conversations, examining details in the environment, and taking a keycard from a distracted guard. Information may reveal a shortcut or a way around security, so look and listen for opportunities before forcing your way through.

The game’s official descriptions present stealth, bluffing, and direct action as different approaches. You can begin quietly and improvise if things go wrong, but that does not mean every encounter supports every option or that one route is always best. IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak described the design as combining “stealth, action, and creativity” in the 2025 gameplay reveal (IO Interactive’s 2025 gameplay reveal).
How do you stay stealthy?
Pay attention to what is happening around Bond before moving into a guarded area. Conversations and environmental details can provide useful information, while a distracted guard may create an opportunity to take a keycard. The publisher says this kind of intelligence can expose shortcuts or ways around security.

What should you do when stealth breaks?
A detected Bond does not automatically mean you must keep trying to sneak. Official descriptions frame bluffing and action as alternatives to stealth, with the caveat that availability depends on the encounter. Instinct can support luring enemies or bluffing when discovered, giving you tools to respond rather than simply repeating the same approach.

If a confrontation escalates, the game offers both melee and ranged combat. IO Interactive describes takedowns, throws, parries, environmental interactions, and precision shooting. Use the option that fits the situation instead of relying on a supposed universal combo or weapon tactic; official sources do not establish ideal moves, damage values, or weapon balance.

How does combat escalation work?
The game describes an escalation system: when enemies use lethal force, Bond receives his License to Kill and gains access to firearms. The official material also identifies melee actions and environmental use as parts of combat. This is a description of how the system is framed, not a promise that every fight follows an identical sequence.
What is Instinct for?
Instinct is described as a flexible resource with uses in several situations: luring enemies, bluffing when discovered, and sharpening focus and power in combat. The official description does not specify its exact cost, controls, or recharge conditions, so treat those details as game-specific rather than assume a particular timing or button.

Which platforms can you play on, and can you play offline?
According to the 007 First Light Player Support article, updated September 15, 2026, the game is listed for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC with a May 27, 2026 release date, and for Nintendo Switch 2 in March 2027. Support says a one-time internet connection is required to download the Day 1 patch; after that, the full main campaign is playable offline. Online access is recommended for connected features such as challenges and leaderboards.
