Een afzonderlijke Mac-app controleren in Finder
- Zoek de app in Finder, bijvoorbeeld in de map Programma’s.
- Selecteer de app en kies Archief > Toon info of druk op Command-I.
- Lees de waarde bij Soort (of Kind) en gebruik de tabel hieronder om die te duiden.

Een overzicht van Intel-apps bekijken in macOS 27
Volgens Apple’s instructies voor macOS 27 of later kun je via het Apple-menu naar Systeeminstellingen > Algemeen > Info gaan en bij Intel-based Apps op Details klikken. Deze lijst bevat recent gebruikte apps of apps op gebruikelijke installatielocaties; beschouw haar dus als een handig overzicht, niet als een gegarandeerd volledige inventaris van alle apps op de schijf.
Rosetta installeren en begrijpen
Rosetta vertaalt Intel-apps op Apple silicon op de achtergrond. Open een Intel-app; als Rosetta nodig is en nog niet is geïnstalleerd, vraagt macOS om installatie. Apple noemt ook deze Terminal-opdracht: softwareupdate --install-rosetta. Rosetta is geen app die je daarna handmatig opent.

Apple’s ondersteuningspagina, geraadpleegd op 7 oktober 2026, zegt dat Rosetta beschikbaar is op Macs met Apple silicon en macOS 27 of eerder. Volgens dezelfde pagina wordt de functionaliteit vanaf macOS 28 beperkt tot bepaalde oudere, niet-onderhouden games die Intel-frameworks gebruiken. Omdat dit versiegebonden platformgedrag is, controleer je bij twijfel de actuele informatie op Apple Support.
‘Open using Rosetta’ bij een Universal-app
Verschijnt in het Info-venster de optie Open using Rosetta, dan kun je een Universal-app geforceerd in Intel-modus starten. Dat kan nodig zijn voor Intel-only plug-ins, extensies of andere add-ons. De optie betekent niet dat de app zelf alleen Intel ondersteunt: ook een Universal-app kan deze instelling aanbieden. Schakel haar weer uit zodra de benodigde add-on is bijgewerkt voor Apple silicon.

Wat te doen als een Intel-app niet naar wens werkt
- Controleer bij de App Store, in de updater van de app of op de website van de ontwikkelaar of er een Universal- of Apple silicon-versie is.
- Als niet duidelijk is of zo’n versie bestaat of wanneer die verschijnt, neem contact op met de ontwikkelaar.
- Controleer plug-ins, extensies, updaters en andere add-ons afzonderlijk: die kunnen Intel-gebaseerd zijn en een eigen update nodig hebben.
- Als een add-on alleen met Intel-modus werkt en de app Universal is, probeer dan Open using Rosetta in het Info-venster.
