What’s actually slowing this PC down?

That warning usually means YouTube is receiving video whose encoded width or height differs from the resolution selected in Live Control Room’s Ingestion Settings. An FFmpeg loop repeats frames; it does not set the stream’s output resolution. Check YouTube’s selected dimensions against FFmpeg’s actual output, then correct the output size or the stream-key setting.
What the resolution warning means
YouTube checks the video stream it receives. Its live streaming error guide says the encoded video must match the height and width selected on the Ingestion Settings page. Depending on the mismatch, Live Control Room may describe the resolution as not optimal or unsupported and may state the expected dimensions.

The dimensions of the source file are not necessarily the dimensions of the encoded output. Filters and encoder options in the full FFmpeg command can change them. Diagnose the stream being sent to YouTube, not just the input file.

- Read YouTube’s exact warning. In Live Control Room, note the resolution selected in Ingestion Settings and any expected dimensions in the health message.
- Check FFmpeg’s output dimensions. Inspect the output settings and filter chain in your command, and verify what dimensions the resulting stream sends. Do not assume the input file’s size survives every filter unchanged.
- Choose which setting to align. YouTube recommends automatic resolution and frame-rate detection by default. If you use manual resolution through a custom stream key, confirm that its selected dimensions match the encoder’s output. Alternatively, make the encoder output the dimensions selected for ingestion.
- Set output size only if needed. FFmpeg’s
-soption adds a scale operation at the end of the output filter graph. When the position of scaling matters, use thescalefilter directly in the appropriate place in the filter chain. Use YouTube’s selected target dimensions, not a guess based on the source file. - Preview and check stream health. Test with representative video and audio before starting the live stream. Confirm the preview and health indicators in Live Control Room rather than relying only on the command completing without an error.
Keep looping separate from scaling
A loop setting and an output-size setting solve different problems. FFmpeg’s loop video filter repeats video frames; loop=-1 means repeat indefinitely. It does not specify the encoded frame width or height. A loop can therefore work correctly while YouTube still warns that the resolution does not match.
#1 Best Overall
- 【1080P HD High Quality】Capture resolution up to 1080p for video source and it is ideal for all HDMI devices such as PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, DVDs, DSLR, Camera, Security Camera and set top box. Note: Video input supports 4K30/60Hz and 1080p120/144Hz. Does not support 4K120Hz/144Hz. Output supports up to 2K30Hz.
- 【Plug and Play】No driver or external power supply required, true PnP. Once plugged in, the device is identified automatically as a webcam. Detect input and adjust output automatically. Won't occupy CPU, optional audio capture. No freeze with correct setting.
- 【Compatible with Multiple Systems】suitable for Windows and Mac OS. High speed USB 3.0 technology and superior low latency technology makes it easier for you to transmit live streaming to Twitch, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, OBS, Potplayer and VLC.
- 【HDMI LOOP-OUT】Based on the high-speed USB 3.0 technology, it can capture one single channel HD HDMI video signal. There is no delay when you are playing game live.
- 【Support Mic-in for Commentary】Rybozen capture card has microphone input and you can use it to add external commentary when playing a game. Please note: it only accepts 3.5mm TRS standard microphone headset.
Change the output dimensions only when they differ from the selected ingestion dimensions. Without your exact command, input and output dimensions, filter chain, codec, frame rate, and stream-key configuration, there is no safe universal replacement command. Avoid replacing a working loop or audio mapping wholesale just to address a resolution warning.
Check encoder settings and upload capacity
If the resolution warning remains or other stream-health messages appear, check the related encoder settings. YouTube’s live encoder settings guide lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS, recommends a 2-second keyframe interval with a maximum of 4 seconds, and specifies CBR. Its bitrate guidance varies with codec, resolution, and frame rate.

For H.264, YouTube lists 10 Mbps as recommended at 1080p30 and 12 Mbps at 1080p60. These are YouTube-published recommendations, not independent performance measurements; the inspected settings page does not display a publication date. Choose a bitrate your connection can sustain. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend 20% extra upload bandwidth, counting both primary and backup streams when both are used.

Common causes and fixes
| What you see | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution marked not optimal or unsupported | Encoded width or height differs from the ingestion selection. | Compare actual FFmpeg output dimensions with YouTube’s selected resolution; align them. |
| The loop runs, but the warning remains | Frame repetition is working, but looping does not set output dimensions. | Check output sizing and scaling separately from the loop filter. |
| Manual stream-key configuration conflicts with output | The custom key’s selected resolution differs from the encoder output. | Match the key’s manual setting and encoded dimensions, or use YouTube’s recommended automatic detection. |
| Warning persists after changing resolution | A filter later in the chain or output option may still be producing different dimensions. | Inspect the complete filter graph and verify the stream output, not only the input file or an earlier filter. |
| Additional health problems or dropped frames | Bitrate, codec, frame rate, or upload capacity may not suit the chosen stream settings. | Check YouTube’s encoder guidance and leave upload headroom; verify the preview and health indicators. |
