First, close any other encoder or device that may be using the same YouTube stream key, then copy the current key from YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room into your encoder and retry. The wording alone does not prove that another session is active, and the available official guidance does not establish JioFiber as the cause.
Fix a YouTube stream key that says “already in use”
Work through the checks in this order. Start with the key and encoder, then investigate the network only if the encoder’s symptoms point that way.

- Stop possible duplicate sessions. Close other encoder windows and stop streaming devices or computers that could be publishing with the same YouTube key. Retry from the encoder you intend to use. This is a sensible diagnostic check based on the message, not a documented definition of what YouTube’s exact “already in use” wording means.
- Copy the current stream key again. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room, select Stream, copy the stream key, and paste it into the encoder’s stream-key field. YouTube recommends getting a new key in the Live Control Room and updating the encoder when a third-party encoder reports a startup error (YouTube Help: Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream). If needed, create a new key there and update the encoder to use it. Treat the key like a password: do not share it in a screenshot, support post, or ticket.
- Update and inspect the encoder. Install its latest available version, check its preview and error messages, and look for unusually high CPU load. If the encoder preview is healthy but YouTube still does not receive the stream, test the outbound internet connection; YouTube distinguishes encoder checks from connection checks in its troubleshooting guidance (YouTube Help).
- Check RTMPS settings only when the symptoms suggest a connection or SSL problem. Compare the encoder’s server URL with the RTMPS URL shown in Live Control Room, and confirm that the encoder supports RTMPS. For relevant SSL errors, YouTube advises using an
rtmpsURL and trying port 443; for timeouts, verify the URL and encoder support (YouTube Help). Google’s RTMPS guidance specifies port 443 and correct server-name indication (SNI) handling (Google for Developers: Delivering Live YouTube Content via RTMPS). These are transport checks; they do not, by themselves, explain a key-in-use message. - Test the connection before contacting Jio. If outbound connectivity testing points to a network problem, YouTube advises contacting the internet service provider (YouTube Help). On JioFiber, MyJio’s Run Diagnostics can check general connection, router, Wi-Fi, and device health and guide basic repairs (Jio: Run diagnostics on a JioFiber connection).
- Escalate with the details, not the secret. If the error persists after closing other sessions and trying a fresh key, record the exact message, encoder name and version, whether you use RTMPS, and when it happened. For a keyless account-login integration issue, YouTube directs users to the encoder’s support team; otherwise, use YouTube’s problem-report route (YouTube Help). Contact Jio if diagnostics indicate a JioFiber connection issue. Never include the full stream key.
How to tell whether the key, encoder, or network is the problem
| What you observe | What to check next |
|---|---|
| The error appears at startup and another encoder or device might be streaming | Stop the other possible session, then retry. A competing session is a diagnostic possibility, not a confirmed explanation of this exact message. |
| The encoder reports a startup error or the key may be stale | Refresh the key in Live Control Room, update the encoder with it, and make sure you copied the current key. |
| The encoder preview looks healthy, but the stream does not reach YouTube | Test outbound connectivity. If the test identifies a connection problem, then investigate the ISP path. |
| The encoder reports SSL, RTMPS, or timeout symptoms | Check the Live Control Room URL, RTMPS support, and relevant port settings; use port 443 for RTMPS as specified by Google. |
| MyJio diagnostics reports a JioFiber issue | Follow the diagnostic guidance or contact Jio about that connection issue. This does not establish that JioFiber caused the stream-key message. |
Does JioFiber cause the YouTube “already in use” error?
The reviewed official guidance does not define the exact “stream key already in use” message or link it to JioFiber. YouTube documents refreshing a key and updating a third-party encoder after startup errors, and separately recommends checking the encoder and outbound connection. Jio’s diagnostics cover general connection and router health, not YouTube stream-key use.

A successful test elsewhere does not, by itself, prove that Jio blocked streaming; likewise, JioFiber diagnostics cannot determine whether a YouTube key is in use elsewhere. Do not assume an outage, ISP block, or a specific network-address issue from this message alone.
