Then identify whether the problem is sending, access, internet connectivity, or Android opening the link in the wrong app; each points to a different fix.
1. Share the playlist link directly from YouTube
- Open the playlist in the YouTube Android app. If needed, go to the channel page, tap Playlists, and open the playlist.
- Tap the playlist’s more-options menu and choose Share, then select WhatsApp. Or choose Copy link, open the WhatsApp chat, and paste the URL into the message box.

2. Confirm it is a playlist URL, not a video URL
A link to one video that happens to be inside a playlist is not necessarily a link to the playlist itself. YouTube’s documented desktop playlist URL format contains /playlist?list=, followed by the playlist ID. Compare the link you sent with that pattern; do not edit or reconstruct the URL by hand if you can copy it again from the playlist’s Share menu. See YouTube: Share playlists.

3. Check whether the recipient has permission to view the videos
If the link opens but the playlist or some videos appear unavailable, check the playlist’s visibility and the privacy of the videos in it. YouTube says viewers must be invited to watch private videos. Sending the playlist URL alone does not grant access; the owner may need to invite the recipient. 5. Rule out a WhatsApp or connection problem
If WhatsApp is failing to send or open other content too, the issue may not be specific to YouTube links. WhatsApp’s general guidance for media problems recommends checking the internet connection, switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, restarting the phone, and updating WhatsApp and Android. That guidance concerns media files, not playlist deep links, so treat these as general connectivity checks rather than a guaranteed link fix: WhatsApp: Troubleshoot problems sending or receiving media.

6. If Android opens the link in the wrong app
If the same link opens in a browser but not in the YouTube app, check your device’s link-handling settings for YouTube and supported links. On some Android devices, an app’s settings include a control for opening supported links; the exact menu path and wording depend on the manufacturer and Android version. A June 2025 Samsung Members community post describes YouTube links received through WhatsApp failing to launch the YouTube app after an One UI update and suggests checking supported-link behavior. It is an individual, device-specific report—not proof of a universal Android or WhatsApp fault: Samsung Members community report.
7. If YouTube itself errors during sharing
First try the less disruptive steps: update YouTube and WhatsApp, restart the phone, and compare sharing from YouTube in a browser. A May 2025 YouTube Community reply by a Product Expert also suggested clearing YouTube’s cache or data and checking for VPN or system-update issues for a reported “Request contains an invalid argument” sharing error. That is community guidance for a particular sharing error, not a confirmed fix for every playlist-link problem. Do not confuse a missing preview with a link that will not open
A WhatsApp message may show no YouTube preview even though its link still opens when tapped.
