If you can’t go live after moving a YouTube channel, first confirm that you’re using the transferred channel, that it is currently eligible for live streaming, and that your account has a role that can manage live streams. YouTube’s published transfer instructions do not say that moving a channel automatically resets its live-stream access, so treat the timing as a clue—not proof of the cause.
Start with the channel and the exact error
- Switch to the transferred channel. In YouTube, select the profile picture and choose Switch account, then select the channel you moved. A Google Account can have multiple channels, so check the channel name and URL before diagnosing its settings. YouTube’s transfer workflow also warns users to verify which channel is being moved and which destination channel may be replaced. See YouTube’s Brand Account transfer instructions.
- Record the failure message. Note whether YouTube Studio says live streaming is unavailable, displays a restriction or strike notice, or whether an API or streaming integration returns an error. The wording helps distinguish channel eligibility from an access-role problem.
Check live-stream eligibility and restrictions
YouTube’s published prerequisites say that a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. Check the channel’s live-stream status and feature eligibility in YouTube Studio, and review any Studio notices, copyright notices, strikes, and YouTube emails for details or appeal instructions. See YouTube live streaming tips and Avoid restrictions on YouTube live streaming.

Restrictions can follow policy or copyright issues and may disable live streaming temporarily or permanently. If a restriction is active, resolve it through the notice or appeal process rather than trying another channel: YouTube says, “If your account has been restricted from live streaming, you’re prohibited from using another channel to live stream on YouTube.”
Check the operator’s channel role
If the owner can stream but a team member cannot, inspect that person’s access in YouTube Studio. YouTube lists Owner, Manager, and Editor among the roles that can manage live streams; Viewer roles cannot. Check YouTube’s channel-permissions role guidance.

Brand Account roles and YouTube Studio channel permissions are different access systems. A transfer may require opting out of Studio permissions, and YouTube’s transfer workflow requires removing existing Studio permission users before proceeding. After the move, confirm which access system is in use and whether the intended operator’s access was retained or needs to be granted again. See Migrate from Brand Account user access to channel permissions and the transfer instructions.
Match the symptom to the likely check
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| No one can start a stream | Channel verification, live-stream eligibility, restriction notices, and Studio status. |
| The owner can stream, but a delegate cannot | The delegate’s current role and whether access is managed through Brand Account roles or Studio permissions. |
An API or integration returns liveStreamingNotEnabled |
Google defines this as live streaming not being enabled for the user’s channel; check the channel’s live-stream setting and status. See YouTube Live Streaming API errors. |
| The problem began after a transfer, but eligibility and role appear correct | The reviewed transfer documentation does not say a move clears live-stream access. Gather account-specific details and ask YouTube for help. |
What the transfer does—and does not—establish
YouTube’s transfer guidance describes prerequisites, the transfer workflow, and risks to the destination channel. In particular, replacing a destination channel can delete its videos, messages, playlists, history, and verification badge. The guidance does not state that the moved channel’s live-stream permission is automatically cleared or must always be enabled again. A transfer may coincide with a permission change, but the timing alone does not prove that it caused the missing access.

If you are planning a move, have the primary owner start it, follow YouTube’s instructions about Studio permissions, and carefully verify the destination account and channel before confirming replacement. Do not proceed unless you understand what content and channel data may be deleted.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesRule out the daily creation limit
If YouTube says the channel has reached its daily live-stream creation limit, its guidance is to try again in 24 hours. That is a separate limit; it does not establish that a channel transfer caused a lockout.

When the usual checks do not explain it
If the channel is verified, Studio shows no applicable restriction, and the person trying to stream has a role that can manage live streams, contact YouTube support or use the Help Center’s troubleshooting options. Include the channel URL or ID, transfer date, the exact Studio status or error text, and the operator’s current role. Public help pages cannot confirm the live-stream state of an individual account.
Or let it run in the cloud
