If the picture drops back or buffers, check the connection reaching your device: test another device, reduce competing network use, improve Wi-Fi reception, run MyJio diagnostics, and compare with Ethernet if possible. “Bitrate” is not usually a setting a viewer can change; the broadcaster controls the encoded stream, while your player and connection affect which available quality you can watch.
What “bitrate fix” means for a viewer
Bitrate describes how much video data is delivered over time. A viewer generally cannot increase the broadcaster’s encoded bitrate. You can choose among the quality options YouTube makes available, but playback may still buffer or fall to a lower option when the connection or delivery path cannot sustain it. YouTube notes that network congestion and other factors can affect live programming and delay a stream: YouTube’s live streaming troubleshooting guidance.

That distinction matters: if the broadcaster’s stream is only available at a low resolution, changing JioFiber settings will not create a higher-resolution version. If higher options are available but do not play reliably, work through the local playback and connection checks below.

1. Select the highest available player quality
- On a computer, move the pointer over the live video and select Settings (the gear icon).
- Choose Quality.
- Select the highest resolution listed that plays smoothly. If the menu offers only low resolutions, the stream may not have higher options available to you.
YouTube’s computer instructions describe this manual quality control, but not every live stream offers every resolution. On phones, TVs, and other devices, the location and available options can differ. See YouTube’s video quality guidance.

2. Check whether the problem follows one device
Try the same live stream on another device connected to the same JioFiber network. If the second device plays higher quality, the first device, its Wi-Fi reception, or its app/browser is a more likely place to investigate. If both devices behave similarly, continue checking the shared network path. This comparison narrows the possibilities but does not identify a cause by itself.
3. Reduce competing network use
Pause large downloads, other high-resolution streams, and bandwidth-heavy activity on devices sharing the connection, then try the live stream again. YouTube’s approximate sustained-speed guidance is shown below; these are general playback recommendations, not guarantees for a particular live stream or device.

These figures come from YouTube’s playback troubleshooting guidance. Other users and devices can reduce the capacity available to the device playing the stream, and a speed result at one moment does not guarantee sustained performance.

4. Improve the Wi-Fi connection to the player
- Move the playback device closer to the router.
- Reduce obstructions and sources of wireless interference between the device and router.
- Temporarily disconnect or pause use on devices that do not need to be online.
YouTube recommends checking device distance, interference, and competing connected devices when playback speed is low. If MyJio diagnostics specifically identifies weak Wi-Fi coverage, Jio says its guidance may include steps such as considering a Jio Extender or compatible coverage equipment; address coverage only when the diagnostics point to it.

5. Run MyJio diagnostics
In the MyJio app, open the JioFiber account or service area and use Run Diagnostics. Jio says this check analyzes network health, router status, Wi-Fi strength, and device connectivity. Depending on what it finds, it can flag issues such as weak Wi-Fi, a router that is offline, loose cables, speed drops, or configuration errors and offer troubleshooting steps. Follow the result shown for your connection rather than assuming a generic “bitrate” setting is the cause. Details are on Jio’s Run Diagnostics help page.
6. Compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet if your device supports it
Jio’s user guide recommends wired connections when streaming videos. If practical, connect a compatible playback device to the router by Ethernet and retry the same stream. A wired connection that works better points toward the Wi-Fi link as a likely factor; it does not by itself prove or repair an ISP-side or YouTube delivery issue. See Jio’s device connection guide.

When to contact Jio
If the stream remains at low quality on multiple devices, and other video services also have trouble, note the time, devices tested, whether Ethernet changed playback, and the results from MyJio diagnostics. Contact Jio support with those details so it can investigate the connection. If only one YouTube Live stream is affected while other playback works, the stream’s available quality or live delivery may be involved; the checks above cannot establish a JioFiber fault. The guidance cited here does not confirm a current JioFiber outage or a Jio-specific YouTube bitrate cap.
