YouTube also applies a separate daily limit to creating computer live streams, but its India-localized guidance does not publish a fixed number. OBS does not change or bypass these account-level limits.
Which YouTube live-stream limit are you asking about?
“Limit” can mean how many broadcasts can run at once, how many streams you can create in a day, or whether a long broadcast will be saved as an archive. These are separate rules; changing OBS resolution, frame rate, or bitrate does not raise an account quota.

How many streams can an Indian channel run at once?
YouTube Help states that a channel can have up to 10 active streams, with no more than 3 active streams using any one stream key. You must stay within both limits. For example, if three broadcasts already use a particular key, another broadcast using that key can exceed its per-key cap even if the channel-wide total is below 10. Conversely, having unused capacity on a key does not permit more than 10 active streams across the channel.

A stream key is the credential that connects an encoder such as OBS to YouTube’s live ingest. Use the stream URL and key provided in YouTube Studio for the intended broadcast; treat the key as private, because someone with access may be able to send a feed to your stream.
How many times can you go live in one day?
There is no fixed daily number published in YouTube’s India-localized feature-access guidance. Computer live streaming has a daily-use limit tied to feature access: phone verification provides a limited daily limit, while advanced access through channel history or identity verification provides a higher one. YouTube does not state the numeric quotas on that page, so forum-reported numbers should not be treated as a guaranteed allowance for an Indian channel.

Check your channel’s current access
- Open YouTube Studio.
- Go to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility.
- Review the channel’s available access and any live-streaming restrictions shown there.
If YouTube says you have reached the daily limit for creating live streams, its guidance is to try again in 24 hours: YouTube Help: live-streaming restrictions.

A channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s general eligibility requirements also say the streamer must be at least 16 years old. Can OBS bypass the limit?
No. OBS encodes and sends video; YouTube enforces eligibility, daily creation limits, and active-stream caps on the channel and stream key. OBS settings affect the quality and reliability of delivery, not how many streams YouTube allows your account to create or run. YouTube’s encoder workflow uses the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio.
Can you stream for more than 12 hours?
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived and warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. That warning concerns saving the broadcast as an archive; it does not establish a general rule that YouTube will terminate every live transmission at 12 hours. OBS settings: keep delivery separate from account limits
Encoder settings cannot increase your quota, but they do affect whether your feed reaches YouTube reliably. YouTube’s encoder guidance supports RTMP/RTMPS ingestion, H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video, with frame rates up to 60 fps. Its published recommended H.264 bitrates include 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 12 Mbps for 1080p at 60 fps. These are YouTube recommendations, not a guarantee that your particular connection can sustain them.
- Choose resolution and frame rate to suit the content and your measured upload capacity.
- Leave approximately 20% upload-bandwidth headroom above the selected bitrate, as YouTube recommends.
- Test with representative motion and audio, check the Live Control Room preview, and monitor stream health before relying on a broadcast.
For current encoder recommendations and workflow details, consult YouTube’s encoder live-streaming guidance and YouTube’s live encoder settings. Network conditions vary; recommended bitrate alone cannot ensure a stable stream.

Troubleshooting a blocked or unreliable stream
- You cannot enable live streaming: Check verification, the channel’s Feature eligibility page, and whether a live-streaming restriction is active.
- YouTube refuses another simultaneous stream: Count active streams across the whole channel and active streams using the same key. One of the two caps may already be reached.
- YouTube reports a daily creation limit: Wait 24 hours before trying again; changing OBS settings will not reset the account limit.
- The feed is unstable or the preview reports poor stream health: Check measured upload speed, reduce the bitrate or output settings if needed, and preserve YouTube’s recommended bandwidth headroom.
- A long stream is missing from the archive: A broadcast longer than 12 hours may not be captured. Keep a local recording when the archive is important.
