Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallFor a 25 fps pre-recorded playlist, play the videos through encoder or media-playback software and send that output to a scheduled YouTube Live event. Set the encoder output to 25 fps when supported, choose a bitrate by resolution using YouTube’s published live guidance as a reference, and test the complete playlist—including transitions and looping—before going live. YouTube’s help pages explain the live connection and encoding settings, but playlist construction and repeat behavior depend on your chosen software.
How the setup works
YouTube Live receives a live feed from an encoder. Your playlist is played into that encoder; YouTube Studio supplies the event’s stream URL and stream key, but it does not provide the playlist-building controls described here. The playlist must therefore be configured and checked in the selected encoder or media-playback software.

For a broadly compatible SDR setup, use H.264 over RTMPS if your encoder supports it. RTMPS is YouTube’s encrypted form of RTMP. YouTube’s current encoder guidance also lists H.265/HEVC and AV1; available choices depend on the encoder. YouTube’s live encoder settings and stream setup instructions describe the connection and supported settings.

Keep a 25 fps source at 25 fps when practical
YouTube supports live frame rates up to 60 fps, so 25 fps is within its stated ceiling. Configure the encoder to output 25 fps if the software supports it and avoid changing the source cadence without a production reason. YouTube’s upload guidance names 25 fps as a common upload rate and recommends matching the recorded rate for uploads; that is upload guidance, not a separate live-ingest rule. Use resolution-specific figures as reference points, not a 25 fps prescription
YouTube’s live bitrate table has 30 fps and 60 fps categories, but no 25 fps row. The values below are YouTube’s published H.264 recommendations for 30 fps, not an official 25 fps bitrate specification. Use the closest resolution row as a starting point, test the actual playlist, and confirm stable stream health in Live Control Room. The help page does not state a publication date; figures below reflect the guidance accessed in 2026.
| Output resolution | YouTube H.264 live guidance at 30 fps | How to apply to 25 fps |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p | 5 Mbps minimum; 14 Mbps recommended | Reference point only; no 25 fps row is published |
| 720p | 3 Mbps minimum; 8 Mbps recommended | Reference point only; no 25 fps row is published |
Keep reliable upload bandwidth above the encoder’s video bitrate so the connection has room for audio and network variation. The appropriate result depends on resolution, codec, encoder behavior, and the stability of your connection; verify it with a test rather than treating the 30 fps figures as exact 25 fps requirements. Set the rest of the encoder output
- Rate control: Use constant bitrate (CBR), as YouTube recommends.
- Keyframes: Set a two-second interval; do not exceed four seconds.
- Picture format: Use square pixels and progressive scan. YouTube’s settings also list two B-frames, one reference frame, and CABAC where supported by the encoder.
- Color and bit depth: For SDR, use Rec. 709 and 8-bit SDR.
- Audio: For RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube lists AAC or MP3. For stereo, use 44.1 kHz and the recommended 128 Kbps audio bitrate.
Encoder labels and available controls vary, so follow the options your software exposes and its compatibility requirements. These recommendations are from YouTube’s live encoder settings guidance.
Connect the playlist to YouTube and test it
- Create or schedule the event: In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a live stream. Consult YouTube’s stream setup instructions for the current Studio workflow.
- Copy the connection details: Copy the stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room into the encoder’s streaming settings. YouTube treats the key like a password and an address for the encoder connection; do not share it publicly. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room using YouTube’s documented controls.
- Load and inspect the playlist: Add the pre-recorded videos in the chosen encoder or media-playback software. Check the full output, not just the first clip: confirm the order, transitions, audio continuity, what happens at the end, and whether repeat or loop behavior is enabled as intended. YouTube’s setup pages do not document these playlist controls, so verify them in the software you selected.
- Run a test before the broadcast: Start a test stream and inspect the Live Control Room preview. Include movement and audio representative of the actual playlist. YouTube advises: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream. Tests should include audio and movement in the video similar to what you’ll be doing in the stream.”
- Watch stream health: During the test and broadcast, monitor Live Control Room for warnings or connection problems. If health is unstable, check the encoder bitrate against available upload bandwidth and reassess the output settings before relying on the stream.
YouTube’s setup and monitoring details are in its live setup help and encoder settings guidance.

Choose latency and DVR for the kind of broadcast
Latency is the delay between capture at the encoder or camera and playback for viewers. A pre-recorded playlist usually does not require real-time audience interaction, so the lowest-latency mode may be less important than a stable, uninterrupted presentation; YouTube notes that lower latency can mean more buffering. DVR lets viewers pause, rewind, and resume during the live stream when enabled. Select settings based on whether immediate interaction or viewer playback controls matter more for your event. YouTube’s live settings guidance
Troubleshoot common problems
- The encoder will not connect: Confirm that the stream URL and key were copied from the correct scheduled event and entered in the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key as a credential; reset it in Live Control Room if it may have been exposed.
- Live Control Room reports unstable health: Check whether the encoder bitrate is sustainable on the available upload connection. Use YouTube’s resolution guidance only as a reference for 25 fps, then test a suitable output and watch for health warnings.
- The video cadence looks wrong: Check the source frame rate and encoder output setting. Keep the output at 25 fps where supported rather than changing cadence without a reason.
- Clips do not repeat or transitions are wrong: These are playlist-software behaviors, not YouTube stream-key settings. Inspect the complete playback sequence in the selected encoder or media-playback software and confirm its repeat and end-of-list options.
- The preview has missing or distorted audio: Check the encoder’s audio output format and stereo sample rate against YouTube’s listed options, then test with representative audio before the live event.
