Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallFor a 4K/60 YouTube Live stream, YouTube’s recommended video bitrate is 50 Mbps with H.264 or 35 Mbps with H.265 (HEVC) or AV1. The listed minimums are 14 Mbps for H.264 and 10 Mbps for H.265 or AV1. Use CBR, set keyframes every two seconds, and test the complete stream before going live.
Recommended 4K/60 settings at a glance
| Setting | YouTube guidance |
|---|---|
| Resolution and frame rate | 3840 × 2160 at up to 60 fps |
| Video codec | H.264, H.265 (HEVC), or AV1 over RTMP/RTMPS |
| Video bitrate | H.264: 50 Mbps recommended; 14 Mbps minimum. H.265 or AV1: 35 Mbps recommended; 10 Mbps minimum. |
| Rate control | CBR |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds recommended; do not exceed 4 seconds |
| Connection protocol | RTMPS recommended |
These are YouTube’s ingest recommendations, not a guarantee that an encoder or internet connection can sustain the stream. Choose the codec your encoder supports and your connection can reliably deliver; YouTube advises testing upload bitrate. Its guidance does not specify one universal upload-speed margin above your selected video bitrate.
Choose a codec and bitrate
H.264: 50 Mbps recommended
Set the video bitrate to 50 Mbps for YouTube’s recommended H.264 4K/60 ingest target. The listed minimum is 14 Mbps. The minimum is not the quality target: a lower bitrate may require more compression and can make detailed or fast-moving scenes look worse.
H.265 or AV1: 35 Mbps recommended
For H.265 (HEVC) or AV1, YouTube lists 35 Mbps as the recommended 4K/60 bitrate and 10 Mbps as the minimum. Use these values only when your encoder and stream workflow support the chosen codec. Codec availability can depend on the software or hardware you use.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If you are streaming HDR
YouTube’s listed HDR settings specify H.265 (HEVC) and 10-bit depth. AV1 is not supported for HDR in this guidance. For SDR, the listed color space is Rec. 709 at 8-bit depth. Keep the color format and codec consistent with the source and encoder configuration.
Set the encoder’s video and audio options
Video options
- Rate control: CBR, or constant bitrate.
- Keyframes: Set a two-second interval. Do not use an interval longer than four seconds.
- Scan and aspect ratio: Use progressive scan and square pixels.
- Advanced recommendations: Two B-frames, one reference frame, and CABAC entropy coding.
- AV1 at 3840 × 2160 or above: Use at least two tile columns.
Encoder menus use different names, so check the equivalent setting in your software or hardware encoder. If an option is not exposed, do not assume a similarly named control has the same meaning.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Audio options
- Codec: AAC or MP3.
- Stereo: 44.1 kHz sample rate and 128 Kbps recommended audio bitrate.
- 5.1 surround: 48 kHz and 384 Kbps recommended. Over RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube supports 5.1 only with AAC.
Configure the stream in YouTube and your encoder
- Prepare the YouTube live stream. In YouTube Studio, create or open the live stream and obtain its stream key. Keep the key private: anyone with access to it may be able to send a stream to your channel.
- Choose RTMPS when your encoder offers it. YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension to RTMP. Select the matching server and enter the stream key in the encoder’s streaming settings.
- Set the output format. Choose 3840 × 2160, 60 fps, and one supported codec: H.264, H.265 (HEVC), or AV1. For HDR, use H.265 and 10-bit depth as specified in YouTube’s guidance.
- Apply bitrate and encoding controls. Set the recommended bitrate for the selected codec, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval. Apply the applicable progressive-scan, square-pixel, and advanced encoder settings.
- Set the audio output. Select AAC or MP3 and configure the sample rate and bitrate for stereo or 5.1 as appropriate.
- Run a private or unlisted test before the event. Match the planned stream’s audio and amount of movement. Confirm the video reaches 2160p, audio is present and synchronized, and YouTube reports a healthy incoming stream before relying on the setup.
- Start the event and monitor stream health. Watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators and messages during the broadcast; correct any encoder or connection warning rather than assuming the ingest recommendations guarantee a stable stream.
Latency and live-stream rules to check
YouTube’s guidance says low latency is unavailable for 4K/2160 streams; they use normal latency. If your event depends on low-latency interaction, account for that limitation when choosing the format.
Technical ingest settings do not grant rights to the material in a broadcast. Before streaming, confirm you have the rights needed for video, music, and other included content, and follow YouTube’s live-stream policies. A stream that passes technical checks can still be restricted for policy or copyright reasons.

Test and troubleshoot before the broadcast
| Symptom | What to check |
|---|---|
| YouTube reports a weak or unstable stream | Test the upload bitrate under conditions similar to the planned event. Check the encoder’s actual output bitrate and the stability of the connection; reduce the output target or choose a more reliable setup if the stream cannot sustain it. |
| Video does not reach 2160p or 60 fps | Verify the encoder output is set to 3840 × 2160 at 60 fps and that the incoming stream is using those settings. Allow time for YouTube’s processing and quality options to appear. |
| Encoder rejects the selected codec or HDR format | Check that the encoder supports the codec and intended format. For HDR, use H.265 and 10-bit depth; AV1 is not supported for HDR in the cited guidance. |
| Audio is missing or incompatible | Check the audio codec, sample rate, and bitrate. For 5.1 over RTMP/RTMPS, use AAC. |
| Connection cannot maintain the recommended bitrate | Do not treat YouTube’s minimum as a guarantee of acceptable results. Test a lower output or a different supported codec and verify stream health before the event. |
