Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteIf one video sounds louder than the next in a YouTube Live loop, first find where the level changes: in the original files, in the audio routed through your encoder, or only during playback for a particular viewer. Compare the same transition in the source videos, encoder output, Live Control Room preview, and a local recording. Adjust inconsistent source or mix levels where the difference begins, then test and monitor the stream. YouTube’s published guidance does not specify a universal loudness target or compressor setting for playlist transitions.
Find where the audio level changes
Listen to the same playlist transition at each stage you can access. This helps distinguish a source-volume mismatch from an encoder or routing problem, and from playback variation on a viewer’s device.

- Source videos: Play the affected files back-to-back at the same player and device volume. If the jump is already there, the difference is in the media or its preparation.
- Encoder feed: Listen to the encoder’s audio output, if available. Check which audio sources are routed into it and whether an unintended source or mix change coincides with the transition.
- Live Control Room preview: Preview the stream and listen across the transition, not just to one clip. YouTube recommends previewing before starting and monitoring stream quality.
- Local archive: Review a recording of the stream around the same point. A difference heard in the source and archive points away from a viewer-only playback control; a difference heard only on one device may be local to that playback experience.
YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guidance notes that poor stream sound can come from the quality of the audio or video sources routed to the encoder. It also recommends checking the encoder and archive, and trying another encoder if the problem persists. See YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guidance.

Fix the cause on the creator side
If the source videos have different levels
Even out the levels in your video or audio preparation workflow, or in the playlist mix, before relying on the loop. Recheck the files back-to-back at a consistent playback volume. A viewer-side playback control may reduce variation for some viewers, but it does not correct the underlying media for everyone.

Even a streaming equipment accessory will not be dull looking when video production.
If the change appears in the encoder or preview
- Check which audio sources are routed into the encoder and whether the intended source is active throughout the playlist.
- Look for encoder errors and check CPU load while the transition occurs.
- Compare the encoder feed, Live Control Room preview, and local archive around the same transition to narrow down where the change enters the chain.
- If the stream still sounds wrong after checking the sources and encoder, YouTube suggests trying another encoder.
YouTube advises testing a live stream, previewing before going live, and continuously monitoring audio and video quality. Its guidance does not prescribe a particular normalization method or dynamics-processing recipe for playlist transitions. See YouTube live streaming tips and YouTube streaming tips.
What viewers can try: Stable volume
YouTube says Stable volume is on by default for videos where supported and continuously adjusts playback to reduce quiet-to-loud variations. It is not available for every video. On a supported video, a viewer can open the video’s Settings menu and toggle Stable volume. This changes playback for that viewer; it is not a creator-side repair to the source files or saved stream. See YouTube’s volume controls for computer.

Voice boost is a separate setting
YouTube describes Voice boost as reducing background sound and highlighting vocals. Availability varies, and Stable volume is automatically turned off while Voice boost is on. These are playback options, not substitutes for checking the creator’s source media and encoder chain. The same YouTube volume-controls page explains their availability and behavior.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesDo not mistake audio format settings for loudness correction
YouTube’s HLS setup guidance lists 44.1 kHz for stereo audio and 48 kHz for 5.1 surround, with audio bitrates of 128 Kbps for stereo and 384 Kbps for 5.1 surround. These are HLS ingestion recommendations, not published loudness-normalization settings. Changing sample rate or bitrate alone is therefore not a documented fix for one playlist video being louder than another. See YouTube’s HLS stream setup guidance.

- Compact, feature-rich livestreaming USB audio mixer provides high-quality sound for desktop audio production
- Plug-and-play connectivity to computer or mobile device (no special drivers required)
- Loopback function makes it easy to mix mic and instrument inputs with background music, game sounds, or other audio input from a computer – and send the stereo mix back to the computer for streaming

The cited YouTube guidance does not establish an integrated loudness target, true-peak ceiling, compressor ratio, limiter threshold, or required normalization method for this use case. Avoid treating an invented LUFS or peak number as a YouTube requirement; diagnose the source, routing, encoder, preview, and archive instead.

If the issue is part of keeping a pre-recorded YouTube stream running, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so a computer and home connection do not have to stay on. StreamNeo accepts uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot and can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. This changes where the loop runs; it does not remove the need to check that playlist files have consistent audio levels.
