For a mostly static yoga nidra scene, start with 720p at 30 fps, H.264, CBR, RTMPS, 8 Mbps video, two-second keyframes, and AAC stereo at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz. Use Rec. 709 SDR and YouTube’s Normal latency setting. This is a YouTube-based starting preset, not a guarantee of stable streaming: test your actual video, audio, encoder, and sustained upload connection before going live.
Recommended YouTube Live settings
These settings target a mostly static 720p30 yoga nidra video. YouTube automatically transcodes live input into multiple playback formats, so set the encoder for a reliable feed to YouTube rather than trying to encode every viewer’s playback version yourself.

| Setting | Starting value | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Protocol | RTMPS | YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension of RTMP. |
| Video codec | H.264 | YouTube also supports H.265/HEVC and AV1. Use a codec your encoder supports reliably; the recommended bitrate depends on codec and resolution. |
| Resolution and frame rate | 1280 × 720, progressive, 30 fps | This is a practical lower-bandwidth starting point for a largely static scene. YouTube lists 8 Mbps as the recommended H.264 bitrate for 720p30. Its table lists 14 Mbps for H.264 1080p30. |
| Video rate control | CBR | YouTube lists constant bitrate encoding for this setup. |
| Video bitrate | 8 Mbps | YouTube lists 3 Mbps minimum and 8 Mbps recommended for H.264 720p30. The recommended value is a preflight target; evaluate the actual picture and connection rather than assuming a lower rate will suffice. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube recommends two seconds and says not to exceed four seconds. |
| Audio | AAC stereo, 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz | YouTube recommends 128 kbps stereo and lists 44.1 kHz for stereo audio. Check spoken guidance and ambient sound for clipping, silence, and abrupt loop transitions. |
| Color | Rec. 709, 8-bit SDR | YouTube’s advanced settings list Rec. 709 and 8-bit for SDR. HDR is unnecessary unless the source and workflow are specifically HDR. |
| Latency | Normal | Lower latency can increase buffering. Normal latency is appropriate when viewers do not need to interact with you in real time. |
Values above reflect YouTube’s published ingestion guidance. YouTube advises testing before starting a live stream; check its encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for the current table and guidance.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsPlan enough upload bandwidth
For an 8 Mbps video bitrate, plan for at least 9.6 Mbps of sustained outbound capacity. That is 8 Mbps multiplied by 1.2, applying YouTube’s recommendation to leave 20% headroom; it is a calculation, not a separately published YouTube speed statistic. Download speed does not show whether your upload is sufficient.

- Run an upload speed test from the actual streaming location, preferably when the connection is under conditions similar to the planned broadcast.
- Account for other people and devices sharing the connection. Competing traffic can reduce the capacity available to the encoder.
- If sending primary and backup streams at the same time, add their bitrates together, then leave 20% headroom above that total.
- Use a stable wired connection when practical, and monitor the stream: a brief connectivity disruption can break a live feed.
See YouTube’s network, encoder, and live streaming tips for its connection guidance.
Set up and test the broadcast before it is public
- Configure the event and encoder in advance. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and retrieve the stream URL and stream key in the Live Control Room. Enter the intended URL and key in your encoder. Treat the key as a password: anyone with access to it may be able to send video to your stream.
- Apply the preset. Set RTMPS, H.264, CBR, 1280 × 720 progressive at 30 fps, 8 Mbps video, a two-second keyframe interval, AAC stereo at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz, and Rec. 709 SDR. Choose Normal latency.
- Run the actual yoga nidra content. Test the same background, spoken guidance, ambient audio, fades, scene changes, and loop point that viewers will hear and see. A static image may behave differently from a clip with movement; listen for clipping, silence, or a jarring transition.
- Check the Live Control Room preview and stream health. Confirm that YouTube receives a picture and clean audio before making the event public. YouTube recommends testing representative audio and motion before going live.
- Check local recording. If you plan to keep your own archive, verify that the recording is being written and that a sample plays with both picture and audio.
- Test recovery or backup failover. If your setup has a backup encoder, simulate a primary failure—such as stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its Ethernet cable—and confirm that the player switches to the backup as intended.
- Arrange monitoring. A continuous unattended broadcast still needs an operator or monitoring plan that can respond to failures. Testing and failover features do not guarantee uninterrupted operation.
YouTube supports software and standalone hardware encoders; a dedicated hardware encoder is not a universal requirement. Select one that supports your chosen codec and RTMPS workflow, and verify its continuous-operation suitability before relying on it. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance describes the setup process and encoder categories.

What “24/7” means for YouTube archives and DVR
A live event continuing for 24 hours is not the same as a complete YouTube recording being saved. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, and warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Its separate DVR guidance says rewind may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours.

Keep yoga nidra content eligible and suitable for a long stream
Encoder settings cannot resolve rights or policy issues. Use audio and video you own or are authorized to stream, including any music, nature sounds, artwork, and footage in the loop. Review YouTube’s applicable copyright rules and monetization policies before broadcasting; a live stream or its archive can be affected if content is not authorized. Repeating a video does not itself establish that a channel meets monetization requirements, so do not treat continuous playback as a monetization shortcut.

Choose a way to keep the stream running
The right setup depends on whether you want to operate the encoder yourself or have uploaded prerecorded video loop from the cloud. YouTube names Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 live streaming of prerecorded videos; that is a documented option, not an endorsement or an uptime guarantee. The available guidance does not establish a universal maximum duration for all encoder streams or independently rank providers’ real-world reliability.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →DIY encoder: software or hardware
A software encoder on a computer can send the prerecorded program, while a standalone hardware encoder is another supported encoder category. In either case, you remain responsible for the encoder, sustained upload, reconnection or failover behavior, local recording, and monitoring. Hardware is optional, not a requirement for a mostly static yoga nidra stream.
