Short answer: DIY OBS costs nothing to license, but your computer, power and internet connection must keep the stream running. A cloud service moves the encoder off your home setup; it does not remove YouTube’s music-rights rules or guarantee uninterrupted viewing. For a bhajan channel, clear the rights to the actual recordings first, then choose who should operate the encoder.
Choose based on what you want to keep running
A 24/7 stream has two distinct jobs: encoding and sending the audio/video, and managing the YouTube broadcast that viewers watch. With OBS, encoding runs on your computer and connects directly to YouTube. With a cloud workflow, uploaded media is encoded remotely, so the home computer and connection are no longer in the encoder path. Neither option can prevent a rights match or guarantee uninterrupted viewing.
| Option | Where encoding runs | What you manage | Evidence and limitations |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Cloud; upload videos, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. | Prepare media and playlist, provide the key, and manage the channel and music rights. | StreamNeo’s product information describes continuous YouTube streaming from uploaded videos and automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. No independent uptime comparison is established. |
| LiveGoLive | Its product page describes a cloud encoder that continues after the browser closes. | Connect YouTube by Google authorization or stream key. In manual mode, manage broadcasts and archives in YouTube Studio. | The vendor describes monitoring, reconnection after transient network interruptions and broadcast rotation in connected mode. Its page showed a waitlist; availability and claims should be checked directly. No independent performance test or price is established. |
| DIY OBS | Your computer, which connects directly to YouTube. | Keep the machine, power and internet available; configure and monitor OBS; manage YouTube broadcasts and archives. | OBS is free, open-source software and may be used commercially. The license does not cover your hardware, electricity, internet or maintenance. |
Cloud services: what changes and what does not
1. StreamNeo
StreamNeo is the first cloud option to consider for a YouTube-only bhajan stream if you want uploaded recordings to loop without leaving a home PC online. You upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, then go live. Its cloud service loops the uploaded videos and is described as automatically recovering if YouTube drops the stream. It streams uploaded video, not a live camera feed.
Every slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, support from the StreamNeo team, and video streamed as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encode or quality tiers. The same features apply on every plan; only the billing period changes.

2. LiveGoLive
LiveGoLive’s product page describes uploading media, connecting YouTube through Google authorization or a pasted stream key, and starting a continuous or scheduled broadcast. It says the encoder can continue after the browser closes and can reconnect after transient network interruptions. It also describes media optimization for incompatible uploads. These are vendor claims, not independent test results; its page showed a waitlist, and a price was not stated. In connected mode, the vendor says it can rotate viewer-facing broadcasts while a persistent stream remains active. With manual stream-key mode, the creator manages broadcast and archive settings in YouTube Studio. See LiveGoLive’s YouTube page for its current availability and terms.

How to run a 24/7 stream with DIY OBS
OBS is free, but the local setup is yours to operate. The OBS Help Portal says there are no OBS servers: the connection goes directly from your computer to the streaming service. Keep the computer running, prevent sleep or shutdown, and ensure power and internet remain available. OBS documents that rising dropped-frame counts may indicate an unstable connection or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain.
- Clear the music rights before setup. Confirm that your license covers the specific recording and arrangement, the channel and the intended territories. Ask whether the rights owner must add your channel to YouTube’s Content ID allowlist.
- Prepare the media. Arrange the recordings you are authorized to use into a playlist or other repeatable playback workflow. Test the full sequence and its restart behavior before leaving it unattended.
- Set up OBS and YouTube. Configure OBS to send the media to your YouTube live stream, using the stream key or account connection offered in your YouTube workflow. Keep the stream key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send content to that stream.
- Check the feed before leaving it. Confirm that YouTube receives both audio and video and that the intended broadcast is live. Watch OBS’s dropped-frame indicator and YouTube’s stream health rather than assuming that a running playlist means a healthy broadcast.
- Plan for local failures. Arrange a way to notice and respond to loss of power, internet, computer stability or the stream itself. OBS does not provide a hosted encoder that takes over when your local setup fails.
- Manage broadcasts and archives. A YouTube broadcast is the viewer-facing event; a stream carries the encoder’s audio and video. Google’s Live Streaming API documentation describes a 24/7 feed that remains live while a separate broadcast is started and completed. This is an API workflow, not a guarantee that a manual OBS setup handles broadcast rotation or archives automatically. Decide how you will manage the broadcast lifecycle and archive settings.
Copyright is the same concern for both approaches
Uploading a bhajan, using OBS, or moving the encoder to the cloud does not confer music rights. YouTube’s livestream terms make the content provider responsible for necessary rights to exploit live content on Google services worldwide, including music rights involving artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants, as well as applicable territory requirements.

YouTube says live streams are scanned for third-party content. A match may replace the stream with a placeholder and a warning; if the content remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. If you have a license, YouTube says to ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Archived live streams may receive Content ID claims after the broadcast ends.
Check rights to the actual sound recording and arrangement, not just the devotional text or an older tune. A traditional lyric does not automatically clear a particular singer’s performance or recording. Get confirmation from the relevant label, publisher, performer or other rights holder; a cloud provider handles encoding, not licensing.

Compare operating burden, not just the software fee
- Local dependencies: OBS avoids a software-license charge but depends on your computer, electricity, internet and attention. A cloud encoder removes the home computer and connection from its ongoing encoding path, but you still need to prepare authorized media and manage the YouTube channel.
- Recovery: OBS identifies dropped frames as a possible connection or bitrate problem; a local operator diagnoses and responds. StreamNeo describes automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, while LiveGoLive describes reconnection after transient network interruptions. Neither claim is an independently measured uptime guarantee.
- Broadcast lifecycle: Ask a cloud service how it manages long-running broadcasts, rotation and archives. YouTube’s broadcast and stream are distinct objects, and archive handling is not the same as keeping encoder media flowing.
- Total cost: Include computer and power costs, connectivity, maintenance and monitoring for DIY. Compare those with a cloud plan’s current price, storage, cancellation terms and operational scope. The available sources do not establish a neutral apples-to-apples total-cost or uptime benchmark.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload your bhajan recordings or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; each slot streams uploaded video at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot. StreamNeo describes automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. This is for uploaded videos on YouTube, not a live camera broadcast. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
