The October 8, 2026, report from Android Authority ties the expansion to Pixel Camera Services version 4.1.977867365.00 and says it is rolling out through Google Play. The feature lets you switch between your Pixel and a supported external camera in compatible apps—but it is a camera picker, not a full multi-camera production setup.
Which apps are reportedly getting Connected Cameras?
Android Authority reports these 11 additions: Google Meet, Gmail, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Telegram, Skype for Business, WhatsApp, WhatsApp Business, Facebook Messenger, and Discord. The report says the total number of supported apps rises from five to 16.

There is an important documentation gap: Google’s currently indexed Connected Cameras support page lists Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok, but not the 11 reported additions. Treat the expanded list as a rollout report, not as a list Google’s support page has confirmed. Availability by region, Pixel model, and app version has not been established.

What Connected Cameras does—and what it doesn’t
Google describes Connected Cameras as a way to capture or stream from a Pixel in supported camera apps while using an external camera, such as a GoPro, a USB camera, or another eligible Pixel. In a compatible app, a camera picker lets you switch between the phone and the connected camera. App filters and effects remain available, according to Google’s instructions.

The “mini TV studio” idea is useful shorthand for choosing another camera angle. It does not mean a production mixer: Google says only one external camera can be connected at a time, and the available documentation does not describe simultaneous external feeds or professional broadcast controls.
Check whether your Pixel and camera are compatible
Compatibility depends on the Pixel model and the type of external camera. Google’s current support page gives these categories:

- Many Pixel 6 and later phones: another eligible Pixel, a GoPro, or a USB camera.
- Pixel 10 and Pixel A-series models from Pixel 6a onward: GoPro or USB cameras.
- Pixel Tablet: USB cameras only.
For a USB camera, Google requires compliance with the USB Video Class (UVC) specification. The documentation does not provide model-by-model GoPro compatibility or camera-quality comparisons. Before relying on a particular camera and app, check that your Pixel model is listed and that the app actually exposes the camera picker.
Turn on Connected Cameras and switch views
- On your Pixel, open Settings and go to Connected devices → Connection preferences → Connected Cameras. Turn the feature on.
- Connect a compatible external camera. If you are connecting another Pixel, Google says cross-device services must be enabled on both devices.
- Open a supported camera app. When the camera picker appears, use it to add, disconnect, remove, or switch between the available cameras.
Google says the connected devices must be signed in to the same Google Account. Audio comes from the camera currently in use, so changing views also changes the audio source. Google also warns that Bluetooth audio may reduce stream quality.

Why your app or camera picker may not appear
- The app is not showing the picker: App support may not have reached your installation. The 11 additions are reported by Android Authority, while Google’s currently indexed support page still lists five apps.
- The external camera is not detected: Confirm that the camera type is supported for your exact Pixel model. For USB hardware, check UVC compliance.
- You are connecting another Pixel: Make sure cross-device services are enabled on both phones and that both devices use the same Google Account.
- You expected two external angles: Connected Cameras supports one external camera at a time, rather than multiple external feeds.
Pixel Camera Services is a preinstalled system component. Its Google Play listing gives a general requirement of a Pixel 6 or newer running Android 12 with the March security update or newer, and cautions that features vary by device. That broad requirement does not guarantee that every Connected Cameras option works on every eligible device.
