Qualcomm says its Adreno Neural Fusion is commercially available to developers using Unity and Unreal Engine on Snapdragon-powered devices, while Arm and Sumo Digital have demonstrated several neural techniques together in a mobile game project. That is meaningful progress, but it does not yet tell you which retail phones or released games support the features.
What “AI graphics” means in a mobile game
Here, AI graphics means neural techniques inside the rendering pipeline—not AI-generated dialogue, characters or other game content. The techniques address different jobs:

- Neural upscaling reconstructs a higher-resolution image from a lower-resolution render. It can reduce the GPU work needed to produce the displayed image.
- Frame generation creates intermediate frames between frames the game rendered. The aim is smoother-looking motion or a higher displayed frame rate; generated frames are not the same as newly rendered game states.
- Denoising estimates cleaner results from sparse ray-tracing samples, helping games use advanced lighting without calculating every pixel at the same sampling density.
These are complementary tools, not a single switch that automatically makes every game sharper, faster and more efficient. Results depend on how a game integrates them and on the device’s hardware and operating conditions.

Qualcomm Adreno Neural Fusion
Qualcomm describes Adreno Neural Fusion as a combined pipeline for neural processing, AI super resolution and frame generation. In its September 2, 2026 announcement, the company said the system uses dedicated Adreno matrix cores and 18 MB of Adreno High Performance Memory, and that it is commercially available with Unity and Unreal Engine support for Snapdragon-powered devices. Qualcomm also says local processing helps reduce latency and power overhead.

Those are Qualcomm’s descriptions, not independent test results. “Commercially available” describes availability to developers; the announcement does not identify a list of supported retail phones or released games. It also does not mean that every Snapdragon phone has the required hardware, or that every game made with Unity or Unreal Engine will use the feature.
Arm Neural Technology
Arm’s feature names describe three distinct functions. Its Neural Technology for Mobile Games documentation describes Neural Super Sampling (NSS) for upscaling, Neural Frame Rate Upscaling (NFRU) for generating intermediate frames, and Neural Super Sampling and Denoising (NSSD) for combining upscaling with ray-tracing denoising.

Arm’s current developer documentation says NSS can reduce GPU workload by up to 50% and NFRU can deliver up to 2x frame rates. These are Arm-stated potential results, not universal gains or independent mobile benchmarks; actual outcomes depend on the content and implementation. Arm also makes NSS resources available through its Neural Graphics Development Kit and describes Unreal Engine plugins and Vulkan tools.

Neural Dawn, co-developed by Arm and Sumo Digital, is a production-quality mobile game project built with Unreal Engine 5.6.1. Arm says it brings neural upscaling, denoising and frame generation together with Unreal Engine MegaLights and mobile ray tracing. It is a more substantial demonstration than a still image: it shows how these techniques can be assembled in a game project.

Arm describes Neural Dawn as a six-level game with 90 to 120 minutes of gameplay, and presents it as a demonstration of what is possible on mobile today. Those details and that characterization come from Arm; they are not an independent review or proof that the same feature set is already common in consumer games.

NVIDIA’s DLSS is a useful PC reference point. NVIDIA describes Super Resolution as producing higher-resolution output from lower-resolution input, Frame Generation as generating frames, and Ray Reconstruction as generating higher-quality pixels between sampled rays. Those goals resemble mobile upscaling, frame generation and denoising, but DLSS and mobile features are not interchangeable products. Hardware support, software integrations and implementation differ; a phone is not receiving desktop DLSS merely because it uses a similar class of technique.

For scale, NVIDIA reported on August 18, 2025 that more than 175 games and applications supported DLSS 4 at that time. The same post said DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation could generate up to three frames for each traditionally rendered frame. Both figures are dated NVIDIA descriptions of its PC technology, not current adoption counts or independent comparative measurements.

What this means if you play on a phone
The announcements show that neural graphics are entering mobile development, but they do not yet provide a dependable compatibility list for shoppers. Before treating a feature as a reason to buy a phone, check the exact chipset, the individual game’s support, region and software version against current official information. A broad label such as “Snapdragon” or “Unreal Engine game” is not enough to establish compatibility.
When these features do arrive in games you play, judge more than the headline frame rate. Look for stable image detail during motion, responsive controls, artifacts around fast-moving objects, and how performance holds up during a long session. Power use and heat matter on a phone: a short smooth sequence may not predict sustained play. Qualcomm discusses latency, artifacts and power, while Arm frames mobile development around real-world power and thermal budgets.
No independent mobile benchmark in the cited sources establishes a particular phone’s frame-rate gain, image-quality improvement, battery benefit or sustained thermal performance. Treat vendor numbers as conditional claims rather than promises for your handset.
