If Yahoo requires 2-step verification and your client can’t authenticate with your regular password, generate an app password in your Yahoo account security settings. Use that app password in the email client’s password field.
OAuth and “secure sign-in” differences
Some modern clients support OAuth-based sign-in for Yahoo. If your client offers OAuth, it can reduce the need for app passwords. If it doesn’t, stick to app passwords and the IMAP/SMTP settings above.
