Yahoo has added a dedicated button linking to Scout on its homepage, and product recommendations have appeared in some Scout searches about shopping, according to a Search Engine Watch report published October 5, 2026. The report describes what it observed, not a Yahoo announcement, so it does not establish that the button or recommendations are available to every user.
What changed on Yahoo’s homepage?
Search Engine Watch reported seeing a dedicated Yahoo Scout button on the Yahoo homepage. It also reported product recommendations in Scout results for ecommerce-related queries. Those are two parts of the same discovery: a homepage entry point to Scout and shopping-related results inside Scout. The report does not identify the products shown or explain how they were selected.

The button should not be confused with MyScout. The button is an entry point to Scout; MyScout is a customizable homepage within Scout, announced by Yahoo in March 2026.

Yahoo introduced Scout in January 2026 as a beta AI answer engine. Yahoo says it draws on the open web, Yahoo data and Yahoo content, and presents answers with sources. Its help page describes Scout as available on desktop and mobile web and in the Yahoo Search app for iOS and Android. Yahoo’s March announcement said Scout and MyScout beta availability was for U.S. users; the available documentation does not establish the geographic reach of the newly reported homepage button.

Yahoo’s launch announcement also cited company scale figures: 500 million user profiles, a knowledge graph spanning more than 1 billion entities, and 18 trillion consumer events annually. These are Yahoo’s internal-data claims, not independently verified measurements. In the same announcement, Yahoo reported that a February 2026 Morning Consult survey of U.S. adults found more than 75% considered it important for AI search tools to show original sources; that is a survey result as reported by Yahoo.
How does Yahoo Scout shopping work?
Yahoo had described Yahoo Shopping, powered by Scout, as a product research and comparison experience that distills information from expert articles and user discussions and provides shoppable links. The October report adds an observation of product recommendations appearing in Scout results for ecommerce-related searches. It does not establish which merchants participate, what ranking criteria apply, whether specific placements are sponsored, or whether links involve affiliate relationships.

- Can you open the original sources behind the comparison or recommendation?
- Are prices and other product details current, and is their date clear?
- Does Scout distinguish editorial recommendations from sponsored placements?
The report does not supply a product-level sample or pricing data, so it cannot answer those questions for the recommendations it observed.
What is MyScout?
MyScout is a customizable homepage inside Scout, documented separately from the Yahoo homepage button. Yahoo says users can add up to 20 custom tiles based on search queries on desktop and in the Yahoo Search app. Tiles can surface topics and Yahoo services, and Yahoo said product recommendation tiles refresh regularly.

- Your hand can relax in comfort hour after hour with this ergonomically designed mouse. Its contoured shape with soft rubber grips, gently curved sides and broad palm area give you the support you need for effortless control all day long.
- You’ve got the control to do more, faster. Flipping through photo albums and Web pages is a breeze, especially for right-handers—with three standard buttons plus Back/Forward buttons that you can also program to switch applications, go full screen and more. And side-to-side scrolling plus zoom gives you the power to scroll horizontally and vertically through your music library, maps and Facebook feeds, and zoom in and out of photos and budget spreadsheets with a click.* * Requires Logitech SetPoint software (Windows) or Logitech Control Center software (Mac OS X)
- Two years of battery life practically eliminates the need to replace batteries. ** The On/Off switch helps conserve power, smart sleep mode extends battery life and an indicator light eliminates surprises. ** Battery life may vary based on user and computing conditions.
- The tiny Logitech Unifying receiver stays in your laptop. There’s no need to unplug it when you move around, so there’s less worry of it being lost. And you can easily add compatible wireless mice and keyboards to the same wireless receiver.
Yahoo described MyScout as a way to bring updates into one place. In its announcement, Eric Feng, Yahoo’s Senior Vice President and General Manager of Yahoo Research Group, said: “Staying on top of your world shouldn’t require a constant cycle of toggling between tabs and apps. Yet that’s exactly what most people do – checking a stock price here, a sports score there, and an urgent update buried in a crowded inbox,”
How can you try Scout?
Yahoo Help says Scout is available on desktop and mobile web and through the Yahoo Search app for iOS and Android. Yahoo’s examples of queries include asking how to change a flat tire, requesting a stock-market update, suggesting cooking gifts under $80, and comparing direct flights from London to Dubai by duration. These are examples provided by Yahoo, not measured search trends.

Because the October homepage-button report does not establish rollout scope, a user may not see the button even if Scout is otherwise available to them. The help pages document general access, not whether the newly reported button or ecommerce recommendations appear for every account or region.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is not yet clear?
- Whether the homepage button has rolled out broadly or only to some users.
- Which products and merchants appear in Scout recommendations, and how results are ranked.
- Whether recommendations are sponsored or tied to affiliate arrangements.
- How recommendation results compare with other shopping search tools in a like-for-like test.
The October 5 observation is useful evidence that Yahoo is making Scout more prominent and surfacing shopping recommendations in some queries. It is not enough to establish a universal rollout or the commercial and ranking details behind those results.
