That confirms the feature survived one product cycle and is being expanded, but it is not a promise that every future Xiaomi flagship will have one.
What is the Dynamic Back Display?
On the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, it is a secondary screen on the back of the phone—not simply a decorative panel around the cameras. Xiaomi described it as a place for AI wallpapers, real-time notifications and sticky notes, as well as a preview for selfies taken with the main rear cameras. That preview lets users frame a selfie using the phone’s rear cameras while looking at the back screen. Xiaomi summarized the launch feature in its 2025 third-quarter results report, published November 18, 2025.
Did Xiaomi keep it on the next Pro generation?
Yes. In September 2026, Xiaomi Community described a new versatile back screen for the Xiaomi 18 Pro series as a continuation of the design. Xiaomi also described the Xiaomi 18 Pro as carrying forward its Magic Screen design. The mainland China store listing for the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max specifies a 2.9-inch rear screen. Taken together, the announcements and listing show that the rear display continued into the next Pro generation.

What changed between the 17 Pro and 18 Pro?
Xiaomi’s descriptions suggest a move from a short list of display functions toward more interactive applications. These are company-stated features, not independent assessments of how useful they are in everyday use.

The strongest supported conclusion is continuity across one generation change: Xiaomi introduced the screen on the 17 Pro models and then described it on the 18 Pro series. That is more than a one-off launch feature, but it does not establish a permanent place in Xiaomi’s lineup or confirm that non-Pro phones will get the same display.

Xiaomi has also cited adoption figures, but they need careful interpretation. The company said more than 80% of Xiaomi 17 series sales in the first month came from the 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max; that is a product-mix figure, not proof that the rear screen drove purchases. Xiaomi later said the previous generation’s rear-screen application cards were used more than 4 million times daily and wallpapers were added more than 3.5 million times daily. Those are company-reported figures, not independently audited measurements. The figures do not establish why customers bought the phones or how useful the screen is to a typical owner.
Does the next-generation model mean you can buy one locally?
Not necessarily. The available store evidence is for mainland China, and it does not establish that Xiaomi 18 Pro models are sold in every region. Before considering an import or relying on a local listing, confirm the exact model’s sales availability, warranty coverage, and ROM compatibility for your market. The Xiaomi 17 Pro series launched in China on September 25, 2025; contemporaneous coverage reported that sales began September 27.

What has not been established?
Xiaomi’s announcements describe features, but they do not by themselves show how the rear screen performs over time. The available sources do not establish its battery impact, durability, long-term software support, or independently measured usefulness. Nor do they show that Xiaomi will retain it indefinitely. Those questions remain separate from the confirmed fact that the feature carried into the 18 Pro generation.
