Which phone has the better camera setup?
Nothing Phone (4a): optical zoom is the differentiator
Nothing describes the Phone (4a) as having three rear cameras, including a periscope camera with 3.5x optical zoom. That makes it the clearer hardware choice if you want a dedicated optical-zoom camera rather than relying only on digital cropping. The specification does not, by itself, establish that its photos are better in every scene. Nothing

Performance: chipset specifications, not a benchmark verdict
The Redmi Turbo 5 India report names a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra, while Nothing lists a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 for Phone (4a). These are different platforms, but the published specifications here do not provide a controlled benchmark comparison, sustained-performance test or gaming result. If demanding games or heavy workloads matter, look for independent tests of the exact regional models rather than inferring a winner from chipset names alone. Redmi launch report Nothing
Battery and charging: capacity is not the same as endurance
The reported Redmi Turbo 5 India configuration has a 7,540 mAh battery and 100 W wired charging. Nothing specifies 5,080 mAh for Phone (4a) generally, with a 5,400 mAh capacity in India, plus 50 W fast charging. These are different regional figures for Nothing, so confirm the version sold where you live. Redmi launch report Nothing

The listed capacity makes the Redmi’s battery larger on paper, but capacity alone cannot establish which phone lasts longer in everyday use. Screen, network, software and workload affect endurance, and the cited sources do not provide a comparable battery test.
Display and durability
Nothing specifies a flexible AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution and an adaptive 30–120 Hz refresh rate. The cited Redmi launch report does not state the Turbo 5’s display size, resolution or refresh rate, so a complete display comparison is not possible from these specifications. Nothing Xiaomi Community
Nothing rates Phone (4a) IP64 and says it was “tested under 25 cm of water for up to 20 minutes.” This is the manufacturer’s wording, not an independent test; it should not be read as a promise of waterproofing. The cited Redmi report does not state a dust- or water-resistance rating. Nothing

Software and update support
Nothing Support identifies Phone (4a)’s software as Nothing OS 4.1 with Android 16. Nothing Support
The Redmi launch report says the Turbo 5 runs Android 16-based HyperOS 3 and reports a four-year OS and six-year security update promise. Because that information comes from a reproduced report rather than a primary Redmi support commitment in the cited sources, verify the terms for your country and model before treating the duration as confirmed. Quick Recap
Which one should you choose?
- Choose Nothing Phone (4a) if you value a manufacturer-specified 3.5x optical periscope zoom, a 1.5K adaptive 120 Hz display, or a listed IP64 rating.
- Consider Redmi Turbo 5 if the reported India configuration’s larger battery capacity, 100 W wired charging or Dimensity 8500 Ultra platform fits your priorities, and you can confirm the exact local model and specifications.
- For either phone, check first that the RAM/storage configuration and regional version match the listing you intend to buy. The cited information does not settle an overall performance, camera or battery-life winner.
