Price difference in India
For matching 8GB + 256GB configurations, Xiaomi India’s store displayed ₹39,999 for the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G and ₹49,999 for the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G when checked on October 4, 2026. That makes the 17 Pro Max ₹10,000 more at the displayed prices. The store also showed crossed-out prices of ₹49,999 and ₹69,999, respectively; those are not established here as launch prices or fixed list prices. Store offers can change. Which phone has the bigger battery?
The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max lists a 9210mAh silicon-carbon battery, compared with 6500mAh for the Redmi Note 15 Pro+. Both cited specification pages list charging up to 100W, though the 17 Pro Max also specifies up to 27W wired reverse charging. These are manufacturer specifications; they do not show how long either phone lasts in everyday use or how quickly it charges in practice.
Which has better camera specs?
The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ has the higher-resolution main-camera specification: 200MP with OIS, against 50MP with OIS on the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max. Both list an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Megapixel counts alone do not establish which phone takes better photos; the available specifications do not provide camera samples or an independent image-quality comparison.

What the specifications do—and do not—say about performance
The 15 Pro+ lists a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, while the 17 Pro Max lists a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 5. Chip names alone are not enough to rank real-world speed. No independent benchmark results are established here, so choose between them on the basis of a verified performance test if processor speed is decisive for you.

Xiaomi’s Global product page says the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G “has passed the TÜV SÜD 2-meter, 72-hour water-resistant test, providing dependable protection against everyday splashes.” That is Xiaomi’s statement about its product, not an independent assessment of ordinary use. Xiaomi also says the device is not a professional waterproof device, resistance may degrade, and liquid damage from immersion is not covered by warranty. Xiaomi Global product page.

Which one makes more sense?
- Consider the 17 Pro Max if its listed 9210mAh battery, reverse charging, or other specifications are worth the observed ₹10,000 premium to you.
- Consider the 15 Pro+ if you prefer its 200MP OIS main-camera specification or want the lower observed India-store price.
- Both list the same display size, resolution class, refresh-rate ceiling, and ultra-wide camera resolution, so those specifications do not distinguish them.
