Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra for selected international markets at an event in Barcelona on February 25, 2024, just before MWC 2024. The Xiaomi 14 Pro was not included. European launch prices were €999 for the 12GB/256GB Xiaomi 14 and €1,499 for the 16GB/512GB Ultra; availability varied by country, and the phones did not receive a broad official US release.
What Xiaomi announced in Barcelona
Xiaomi held its “Lens to Legend” launch event in Barcelona on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at 15:00 GMT+1. The event took place immediately before the MWC exhibition and presented the Xiaomi 14 Series to international customers, with Leica camera technology at the center of the message. Xiaomi’s event page highlighted Leica Summilux optics, the Ultra’s 1-inch sensor and variable aperture, and video capabilities.
This was an international rollout, not the first unveiling of both devices. Xiaomi announced the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro in China on October 26, 2023, then announced the 14 Ultra in China on February 22, 2024. The Barcelona event was the international launch of the Xiaomi 14 and the Ultra’s international debut. Tech Advisor’s launch coverage records that sequence.

Xiaomi 14 versus Xiaomi 14 Ultra
Both phones use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform and Xiaomi HyperOS, but they target different buyers. The Xiaomi 14 is the smaller flagship; the Ultra puts more of its size and price into camera hardware and a larger display.

What the Ultra’s camera hardware adds
The Xiaomi 14 has a Leica-branded triple-camera setup for a more conventional compact flagship. Xiaomi’s UK product page lists Leica Summilux optics and a 75mm floating telephoto; it is not a four-camera system like the Ultra’s. Its 6.36-inch display and smaller format are the clearer reasons to choose it if the Ultra’s specialist camera hardware is unnecessary.

The Ultra’s four 50MP rear cameras include a 23mm-equivalent main camera built around a 1-inch LYT-900 sensor, a 12mm-equivalent ultrawide, a 75mm floating telephoto and a 120mm periscope telephoto. The main lens has a stepless f/1.63–f/4.0 variable aperture. Xiaomi also lists Dolby Vision and 8K video recording, 4K recording at up to 120fps in supported modes, RAW capture and professional video tools. Those are supported capabilities, not a promise that every format or frame rate is available on every camera in every region. These details are from Xiaomi’s UK specifications page.
The sensor size, extra focal lengths and aperture control describe hardware flexibility; they do not establish that the Ultra takes better photos than every competing phone in every situation. That conclusion would require comparable independent testing and depends partly on shooting preferences.

Photography Kit
Xiaomi also promoted a camera-grip-style Photography Kit for the 14 Ultra, with physical shooting controls including a shutter button. It is an accessory, not another phone model, and whether it was bundled or sold separately depended on the country and promotion. Android Central’s launch report describes the kit.
The Xiaomi 14 Pro was not part of the international launch
The Xiaomi 14 Pro was announced in China alongside the Xiaomi 14 in October 2023, but it was not announced for the February 2024 European and international launch. Contemporary coverage reported that the global lineup comprised the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Ultra. Xiaomi did not provide a confirmed explanation in the cited launch material, so any account of why it omitted the Pro would be speculation. PhoneArena and Tech Advisor both noted its absence.

Europe and the UK
The international launch was aimed at selected markets, including Europe and the UK, rather than guaranteeing retail availability in every country. UK retail availability was reported for March 19, 2024. That date is distinct from the February 25 announcement; preorders and offers were market-specific. Check Xiaomi’s local product and store pages for regional configurations and current stock. The UK product pages are Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

United States
Contemporary reporting said Xiaomi did not generally sell these flagship models through official US channels. A US buyer considering an import should not assume that a listing described as “global” means official US support or full carrier compatibility. Tech Advisor covered the lack of a broad official US release.
Other markets
“Global launch” describes the international event and rollout, not universal availability. The cited sources do not establish a country-by-country launch list for every region. Check Xiaomi’s official local site or retailer before treating a model, configuration or bundle as officially available in a particular country.
Which model makes more sense?
Choose the Xiaomi 14 for a compact flagship
- You want a smaller, easier-to-handle phone with flagship processing power.
- You want Leica-branded cameras but do not specifically need the Ultra’s 1-inch sensor or two telephoto cameras.
- You prefer the lower of the two launch prices.
Choose the Xiaomi 14 Ultra for camera flexibility
- You value the 1-inch main sensor, variable aperture and both 75mm and 120mm telephoto options.
- You want the larger, higher-resolution display and the Ultra’s more extensive camera and video features.
- You are comfortable with a much higher launch price and a larger device; the Photography Kit may also suit a camera-focused workflow.
Import checks for buyers outside official sales regions
A China-market import is not automatically equivalent to an official global model. Before buying, verify the exact model number, software ROM and region, supported LTE and 5G bands, Google services, bootloader status, warranty location, charger plug and package contents. Xiaomi notes that specifications and included items can vary by market on its regional Ultra specifications page.

A compatible band list alone does not guarantee that a carrier will provision the phone correctly. Also account for import taxes, return shipping, warranty coverage and the availability of local repair service; software-region differences can affect services or apps.
What the launch did—and did not—mean
Xiaomi’s February 25, 2024 Barcelona event made the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Ultra international products, with a compact flagship and a camera-led Ultra at distinct European launch prices. It did not make the Xiaomi 14 Pro an international model or guarantee that either phone would be sold through official channels in every country. For buyers, the practical question is therefore not just which phone has the better fit, but whether the relevant regional version was officially supported where they live.
