If Xfinity Stream is silent on your Samsung TV, first play something in another app and try another input. If those have sound, focus on the Stream app and its compatibility; if they are silent too, check the TV’s audio output and connected equipment. This simple split helps you avoid changing TV settings when the problem is limited to one app.
First find out whether the problem is Xfinity Stream or the TV
- Play a video in another streaming app.
- If possible, switch to another TV input and play content there.
- Note whether the sound comes from the TV speakers, a soundbar, or a receiver, and which device is selected as the active audio output.
If other apps or inputs have sound, troubleshoot Xfinity Stream first. If everything is silent, check the TV and audio equipment before changing the app. There is no single fix established for every case of “Xfinity Stream no sound on Samsung TV.”

If only Xfinity Stream has no sound
Restart and update the app
- Close Xfinity Stream, then open it again.
- Check the TV’s app store for an available Xfinity Stream update and install it.
- Restart the TV. Xfinity recommends using the latest app version and restarting the device; if the problem continues, it also recommends signing out and back in. See Xfinity’s Stream app troubleshooting steps.
- In Xfinity Stream, sign out of your account and sign back in.
Cold boot the Samsung TV and update its software
Turning a Samsung TV off normally may leave it in standby. A cold boot shuts it down and starts it again. Follow the instructions for your TV model, then check for a TV software update. Menu labels and cold-boot steps vary by model and software version; Samsung’s app troubleshooting guidance covers these recovery steps.

Reinstall the app if it is still silent
Delete Xfinity Stream, then download it again from the TV’s app store. Samsung lists reinstalling an app before resetting Smart Hub. A Smart Hub reset is more disruptive, so treat it as a later option and consult the instructions for your model before proceeding.

If every app or input is silent
Work through the TV’s audio path rather than treating this as an Xfinity Stream-only fault:
- Check that the TV is not muted and raise the volume with the TV remote.
- Open the TV’s sound settings and confirm that the selected Sound Output matches your setup: TV speakers, soundbar, or receiver. The exact menu wording depends on the model and software.
- Check whether headphones or another connected audio device are diverting sound.
- Confirm that the soundbar or receiver is powered on and connected as expected; restart it and the TV.
Use your Samsung TV’s model-specific manual for menu instructions. Xfinity’s separate no-audio guide concerns Xfinity TV Adapters and TV Boxes. Its box-remote and box-connection steps do not establish a fix for the Xfinity Stream app built into a Samsung TV.

If only some Xfinity channels or programs are silent
A channel-specific symptom is different from silence across the whole app. Xfinity’s guidance about checking multiple TVs and SAP/MTS settings applies to a connected TV, DVD player, VCR, or other device in its TV-service troubleshooting context; it is not a confirmed fix for the Samsung-hosted Stream app. If other Stream content has audio but particular channels or programs do not, contact Xfinity and describe exactly what is affected.
Check whether your Samsung TV is supported
Xfinity’s current requirements list Samsung TVs from model years 2020 through 2026, along with qualifying 2018 and 2019 models. The year alone does not establish eligibility: check your exact model against Xfinity’s Samsung TV requirements.

For certain 2018 TVs, Xfinity lists these firmware requirements: T-KTM2AKUC 1131.9, T-KTM2LAKUC 1131.9, T-KTSUAKUC, and T-KTSNAKUC 1131.9. Xfinity says the Stream app is no longer available on 2017 Samsung TVs. Model support and requirements can change, so check the live list rather than relying on a TV’s year alone.
Xfinity also requires Stream app version 2.2.5 or later to access and watch 4K content on Samsung TVs. That is a 4K-content requirement, not a general audio fix. Xfinity’s note that more than 2 GB of available memory is needed for effective delivery of high video quality is not evidence that low memory causes a no-sound problem.

When to contact Xfinity or Samsung
Contact Xfinity for an app-specific problem
If other apps and inputs have sound but Xfinity Stream does not, use the Services → Troubleshoot TV issues flow in the Xfinity app for service problems, including picture and sound. Xfinity says the guided flow can escalate to an agent if troubleshooting does not resolve the issue. When you contact support, provide your Samsung model and year, the Stream app version if available, the affected program or channel, and whether other apps have audio.

If the TV is silent across apps and inputs after you have checked mute, volume, output selection, headphones, and connected audio equipment, contact Samsung support. Give them the TV model and software details so they can direct you to instructions that match your set.

Consider another supported device only as a fallback
If the TV remains eligible but its built-in Xfinity Stream app stays unusable after the app and TV recovery steps, Xfinity lists Roku among its supported Stream platforms. An external Roku device could provide another way to run Stream, but it will not fix silence across the TV, a faulty soundbar, or another audio-path problem.
