Free Play Days is a limited-time promotion for selected games; Xbox Game Pass is a subscription that provides access to a changing game catalogue and plan-specific features. Free Play Days is not a separate name for the full Game Pass library, and trying a game does not give you permanent ownership.
Free Play Days and Game Pass are different kinds of offers
Free Play Days: a temporary chance to try selected games
Xbox describes Free Play Days as a limited-time opportunity for eligible Game Pass members to play selected games. Xbox says new games are featured weekly, so the titles available—and any associated discounts—can change. Check the live US Free Play Days page for the current selection and terms.

When Xbox’s US page was checked on October 4, 2026, it listed Far Cry 6, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Skull and Bones, and The Crew Motorfest Cross-Gen Bundle. That is a dated snapshot, not a promise that those games remain available.

Game Pass is a subscription service whose catalogue and benefits depend on the plan, platform, region, and time. Xbox’s US page described Essential, Premium, Ultimate, and PC-only plans. See Xbox’s current US Game Pass plans for the live plan details and catalogue.

Do you need Game Pass for Free Play Days?
Xbox’s Free Play Days page names Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and Essential members as eligible. It does not name PC Game Pass in that eligibility statement, so do not assume PC Game Pass qualifies; check the live offer and its terms before relying on it. Eligibility and available games may vary by region and platform.

Can you keep a game after Free Play Days?

Check the current listing if you want to buy a game, and review the purchase terms; a discount is not part of every offer.
