Xbox Elite Controller Series 3 Specs May Have Leaked: What’s Reported

A reported Xbox Design Lab backend leak describes possible Elite Series 3 features, but Xbox has not confirmed the specs, price or release date.

A detailed list of possible Xbox Elite Controller Series 3 features was reported on October 6, 2026, but none of it is confirmed by Xbox. The claims reportedly came from Xbox Design Lab backend data that was no longer available for verification, so treat the rumored Hall-effect and TMR sticks, advanced haptics and customization options as unverified—not final specifications. No confirmed price or release date has been established.

What the alleged Series 3 leak says

Windows Central reported that a Reddit post described specifications allegedly scraped from the Xbox Design Lab storefront backend. Insider Gaming and Pure Xbox also covered claims traced to that post; their reports do not independently verify the underlying data. Windows Central’s Jez Corden wrote on October 6, 2026: “Although I was unable to verify the sources (as they’ve been removed), users suggest that this leak is most likely legit.” That is a description of confidence in the report, not confirmation from Microsoft.

Thumbsticks and controls

  • Reported Hall-effect and TMR thumbstick module choices.
  • Alleged standard, loose and tight stick-tension options, as well as low-friction or silent stick options.
  • Additional paddle designs, several D-pad variants and 27 mapped topper/paddle configurations.

Haptics and audio

  • Advanced haptics reportedly combining VCA motors with impulse trigger motors.
  • An audio scroll wheel is also claimed.

Customization and packages

The reports describe faceplate choices, 16 3D component models and four alleged SKUs divided between Base and Elite Complete packages, with versions with or without motors. The reports do not establish the exact contents of each package, and none of these options has been confirmed by Xbox.

What Xbox has confirmed about the Elite Series 2

Xbox’s official Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 product page documents adjustable-tension thumbsticks, shorter hair-trigger locks, interchangeable sticks, D-pads and paddles, and button mapping in the Xbox Accessories app. It supports up to three custom profiles plus one default profile, and Xbox lists Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth connectivity for supported Xbox, Windows and mobile devices.

  • DESIGNED WITH XBOX DESIGN LAB — This XBOX Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 Core in Soft Melon was designed with XBOX Design Lab, the only official platform for custom XBOX controllers. Featuring a distinctive color combination across the top case, bumpers, triggers, and ABXY buttons.
  • ADJUSTABLE-TENSION THUMBSTICKS — Fine-tune your aim with thumbsticks that let you adjust resistance for improved accuracy, consistency, and control in every match.
  • SHORTER HAIR TRIGGER LOCKS — Fire faster and react quicker with three-step hair trigger locks that reduce pull distance for rapid input in competitive gameplay.
  • CORE ESSENTIALS — Includes just the components you need to unleash your best game. Add even more customization with the Complete Component Pack, sold separately, for extra paddles, thumbsticks, a D-pad, carrying case, and charging dock.

The same page lists up to 40 hours of battery life per charge, with Xbox noting that actual battery life varies with usage and other factors. It gives the controller’s weight as 345 g (+/- 15 g) with four paddles, a faceted D-pad and standard thumbsticks attached. These are Series 2 specifications, not Series 3 figures.

Xbox also documents a full-package Series 2 configuration with a charging dock, USB-C cable, paddles, additional sticks, a D-pad and a carrying case. The Series 2 is the verified predecessor to consider while Series 3 remains unconfirmed; no Series 2 accessory compatibility with a future controller is established by the leak.

Series 3 price and release date remain unknown

The reports reviewed do not give a Series 3 retail price or confirmed release date. Windows Central says the leak contained no price information. Corden reported hearing that the controller might be imminent and that Microsoft may want it available for the holiday season; that is source-based reporting, not an Xbox schedule or promise.

What to watch for if Xbox announces it

If Xbox confirms the controller, the useful details to check will be the difference between Hall-effect and TMR stick options, tension settings, motor configurations, exactly what comes in Base and Elite Complete packages, and the price and warranty terms. Until then, the reported feature list is a rumor rather than a buying specification.
