What the WWE All Stars PC recompilation is
This is an unofficial Windows recompilation of the Xbox 360 edition of WWE All Stars. Instead of emulating an Xbox 360 processor at runtime, it translates the game’s PowerPC code ahead of time into x86-64 code for modern PCs. Its default graphics path is a native Vulkan renderer that handles the game’s original Direct3D 9 calls.

The distinction matters during installation. You do not launch the program and point it at a physical disc as you would with a conventional emulator. The launcher reads the game data from a disc image that you provide, verifies it, and copies the required files into the installation’s game-data directory. The release archive contains the launcher and recompilation code, not the commercial game’s code, textures, music, downloadable content, or updates.

The project says it is not affiliated with or endorsed by WWE, THQ, Yuke’s, or Microsoft. Do not download or redistribute disc images, Title Update 2, DLC, or copied game-data folders. Use dumps made from media and a console that you own.
The project README describes the target as the original 60 frames per second game. Its wording is a project statement rather than an independent benchmark: “The game runs at its original 60 frames per second, on the Steam Deck too.” Actual smoothness still depends on your display, driver, renderer state, and graphics settings.
WWE All Stars PC recompilation requirements
Check every item before downloading a release. The hardware boundary published by the project is deliberately narrow: a configuration not listed as tested may work, but it is not a compatibility guarantee.

What is tested, and what is only possible
The maintainer lists Windows 11 paired with an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT as a tested configuration. Steam Deck running SteamOS through Proton is also reported at 60 fps on the Low preset. Those examples demonstrate known working targets; they do not establish that every Vulkan card, laptop, Windows computer, or Linux distribution will perform identically.
NVIDIA GPUs, Intel GPUs, Windows 10, and desktop Linux are marked untested. “Untested” does not mean impossible, but it means you should expect to provide diagnostic logs if something fails and should not treat a successful result on one machine as proof for another.

Game files you must provide yourself
The release ZIP and repository contain no game files. Setup therefore has three possible inputs:
- Disc image: a USA or Europe Xbox 360 WWE All Stars image made from your own disc.
- Title Update 2: the update package dumped from your own Xbox 360 console.
- DLC: optional content dumped from that console. The project does not provide it.
The README identifies the common Title Update 2 location on a console drive or USB device as Content 00000000000000054510866 00B0000. The file is commonly named tu00000005_00000000. Some dumps instead place it in the console’s Cache folder under a name beginning with TU_.
You do not have to rename the update. The launcher can accept the update’s containing folder or an archive in ZIP, 7z, or RAR format. Select the folder or archive that contains the update when the launcher asks for Title Update 2.
How to install WWE All Stars Recomp
Use a normal writable folder rather than a protected Windows location. The following sequence follows the launcher’s documented workflow.
- Download the latest Windows x64 release ZIP. Obtain the release from the project’s official distribution channel and keep the archive intact until extraction is complete.
- Extract every file. Choose a regular path such as
C:GamesWWEAllStars. Do not runWWEAllStarsLauncher.exefrom inside the ZIP, and avoidProgram Files, where Windows permissions can interfere with generated data and logs. - Start the launcher. Open
WWEAllStarsLauncher.exefrom the extracted folder. - Select the disc image. Choose the USA or Europe Xbox 360 image, or drag it onto the launcher if drag-and-drop is offered by your release.
- Select Title Update 2. Point the launcher to the update file, its containing folder, or a ZIP, 7z, or RAR archive containing it. If you copied the update from USB, browse to the
Content 00000000000000054510866 00B0000path or to the appropriate Cache dump. - Add DLC only if you have a personal dump. Leave the DLC field empty for a base-game installation. Do not substitute downloaded packages.
- Run verification and copying. The launcher checks the selected inputs and copies the needed data into its game-data area. According to the README, the source files are read, not modified.
- Wait for shader and pipeline preparation. The first preparation takes a few minutes and is intended to happen once. Do not close the launcher while this stage is active.
- Choose Play. The launcher should now start the native renderer. If it reports that it is using the Emulated renderer, follow the renderer section below before judging performance.
Moving saves to a new release
When updating to a newer release, copy the entire userdata folder from the old installation into the new release’s folder. This carries launcher state and saves forward. Preserve the folder structure rather than copying individual files unless a release-specific instruction says otherwise.

Native and Emulated renderer choices
The recompilation exposes two renderer modes:

The documentation does not publish a universal speed comparison between the two modes. Do not assume that switching renderers is a guaranteed performance upgrade. If Native fails while Emulated starts, capture the reason shown by the launcher and attach the session log when reporting the problem.

Fixing uneven frame pacing
A game can hold its target frame rate and still look uneven when the display refresh cadence does not divide cleanly into 60 frames per second. The project specifically calls out 144 Hz and 165 Hz displays: without variable refresh, frames alternate across two and three display refreshes, which can appear as judder.
Best option: enable variable refresh
- Open your monitor’s on-screen menu and enable its adaptive or variable-refresh feature if supported.
- Enable the corresponding FreeSync or G-Sync option in your graphics driver’s display settings.
- Launch the game again and check camera pans and entrance animations for consistent motion.
The exact control-panel labels vary by GPU and driver. The project recommendation is to turn variable refresh on when available, not to force a particular vendor setting.
Use a refresh rate divisible by 60
If variable refresh is unavailable or unreliable, choose 60, 120, or 240 Hz in Windows display settings. These rates divide evenly into the game’s 60 fps timing. At 144 or 165 Hz, the alternating cadence is expected behavior from the mismatch rather than proof that the recompilation is dropping frames.
Fixing low performance on a weaker GPU
Open the game’s GRAPHICS settings and select the Low preset. The README identifies supersampling as the costly setting, so reduce or disable supersampling first if you need more headroom. Lowering that option generally has a larger effect than changing cosmetic settings that do not scale the internal render resolution.

- Change supersampling separately so you can tell whether it is responsible for the slowdown.
- Retest the same match or entrance after each change, because menus and gameplay can have different workloads.
The published guidance does not provide universal minimum frame rates for particular GPU models. A Vulkan-capable card that is not in the tested list may require experimentation, and a driver update can change results.
When the game starts on the Emulated renderer
If the launcher reports that the game started in Emulated mode, read the reason displayed in the launcher rather than immediately reinstalling. Then choose Prepare shaders and let the process finish. Shader and pipeline preparation is designed to occur during first setup and is the documented response to the usual fallback condition.
After preparation, select Play again. If Native still fails, record the exact launcher message and proceed to log collection. Do not claim a performance comparison from a single fallback run; the project does not publish one.

For a crash, incorrect rendering, or an error that survives shader preparation, use the launcher’s diagnostic tools:
- Reproduce the problem once, noting the screen or action that triggers it.
- Open the launcher and select Open logs.
- Inspect the session folder that opens. The project requests the complete session folder rather than a copied fragment of one file.
- Check the log for personal Windows user-name paths. Remove or redact those paths before public posting if you do not want to disclose them.
- Zip the session folder and attach it to a bug report, together with your Windows version, GPU model, driver version, renderer shown by the launcher, and the exact steps that led to the failure.
The maintainer asks for a session log because “Anything not listed above may still crash; an issue with the session log attached helps fix it.” The documented actions are project guidance, not independently tested fixes, so a report is more useful than repeatedly changing unrelated settings.

Fixing an installation that was moved
Releases through 1.0.0 may remember the original location of the game data. If you move the extracted folder and setup starts again or the launcher cannot find nearby data, close the launcher and delete:
userdatalauncher-state.json
Start the launcher from the new location and allow it to locate or prepare the adjacent gamedata directory again. Later releases handle moved folders automatically according to the README, so do not remove the file on a newer version unless the launcher or release notes direct you to do so.
Modes and features reported as playable
The project lists these modes and features as tested and playable:

- Experimental online Player Match.
Ranked Match and leaderboards are unsupported. The in-game store is also unsupported; DLC is added through the launcher instead. The word “experimental” is important for Player Match: availability does not mean that online behavior is guaranteed across every network or build.
Steam Deck, Linux, and Windows compatibility boundaries
The README reports Steam Deck on SteamOS through Proton at 60 fps on Low. That is a project-published result for the listed handheld and settings, not a promise that every Proton version or Linux device will behave the same way.
Desktop Linux is explicitly untested. Windows 10 is also untested even though it appears in the general requirements, and NVIDIA and Intel GPUs are untested. If you try one of those combinations, verify Vulkan support, use a current driver or graphics stack, and keep the session folder ready for a bug report.

Legal and file-sharing boundaries
The recompilation separates executable technology from copyrighted game assets. Its repository and release archives do not contain the original game code or data. You are responsible for obtaining a lawful personal dump of the USA or Europe Xbox 360 disc image, Title Update 2, and any DLC you use.

A purchased Xbox 360 copy can provide the source disc, but it does not automatically provide Title Update 2 or a dump from your console. Keep the setup focused on your own media and hardware.
