Blizzard says it will refine the new Skyborne race’s visual style, revisit its High-Definition (HD) druid forms, and add Standard-Definition (SD) character models. The October 7, 2026 announcement responds to community feedback, but Blizzard’s public synopsis does not specify which changes address which concerns, what the models will look like, or when every update will arrive.
What Blizzard announced
In its October 7, 2026 announcement, Blizzard described three areas of work: refining the Skyborne visual style, revisiting HD druid forms, and expanding player choice with SD character models. The announcement synopsis appears in Blizzard’s official forum mirror.

The synopsis establishes the broad direction, not a full specification. It does not explain exactly how the race’s appearance will change, which druid forms will be revised, how SD models will be implemented, or the release timing. Those details should not be assumed from the announcement summary.
Why players raised visual-style concerns
WoW: Forever presents players with HD and SD visual modes. Before this announcement, some players worried that the Skyborne’s brighter, higher-contrast HD customizations could look out of place beside the game’s older Classic-style world, and that the absence of an SD Skyborne model limited their ability to keep a consistent look. A September 29 forum post, for example, asked for SD models before launch and argued that choosing SD while still seeing the race in HD undermined that choice (community thread).

- Includes a Redemption Card that unlocks FOUR unique transmogs IN-GAME. These are exclusive items for World of Warcraft that can only be obtained with purchase of the figure
That post is an example of the concern, not evidence of how widespread it was or the sole reason Blizzard made its announcement. Blizzard’s synopsis says the team is refining the style and expanding model choice, but does not map particular player comments to particular changes.
What the update covers—and what remains unspecified
| Area | What Blizzard has said | What the synopsis does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Skyborne character appearance | The visual style will be refined. | Specific edits, affected customizations, or final appearance. |
| Druid forms | HD druid forms will be revisited. | Which forms will change or what adjustments are planned. |
| Character model mode | SD character models will expand player choice. | Implementation details, availability timing, or a complete list of supported models. |
These are distinct areas of work: the announcement mentions both character models and druid forms, but gives no detailed before-and-after comparison. It also does not confirm a delivery date for each change.

Who the Skyborne are in WoW: Forever
Blizzard introduced the Skyborne, also called the shen’dorei (“hidden people”), as a playable race in its September 22 introduction. Their level 1–12 introduction takes place on Zephras Isle, and players can choose either Horde or Alliance at character creation.
Blizzard has described the starter zone as a short introduction before players return to terrestrial Azeroth. In an interview reported by TechRadar, Blizzard estimated that players would spend “4-6 hours” there; this is the company’s approximate expectation, not a measured playtest result (TechRadar’s October 7 report).

Why Skyborne can join either faction
TechRadar reports that Blizzard said offering the race to both factions was intended to reduce the risk of a future population imbalance. Blizzard also attributed a historical faction shift to the introduction of Blood Elves in The Burning Crusade. In that interview, Blizzard described the population as swinging “almost 40%,” from 60/40 Alliance/Horde to 60/40 Horde/Alliance. These figures are Blizzard’s account as reported by TechRadar; they are not independently verified by a population dataset in the available sources.
That faction decision is relevant context for the race, but it is separate from the visual update. The announcement does not say that faction balance prompted the model changes.
