If a quest is unavailable or its reward is unclear, inspect that quest’s requirements and current details: unlocks and rewards vary by quest, feature, expansion, and patch.
How do I track quests and see their status?
- Press M to open the map and review quests and other objectives your character is undertaking.
- Press L to open the quest log. Select the quests you want to track; hovering over a quest can show its status and type.
- Use the map legend and filters to interpret markers or show and hide categories. Blizzard’s July 2024 UI guide lists Campaign, Legendary, Repeatable, In Progress, Important, Meta, Local Story, and Turn In categories. Labels and available content can change with updates.
Why can’t I pick up this quest?
There is no universal prerequisite list. A quest may depend on character level, reputation, campaign progress, an unlocked feature, or party eligibility. Check the quest’s own details and any Campaign or Important markers rather than assuming a requirement from another expansion applies.

For instance, Blizzard’s Legion World Quest guide said those quests opened at level 110 after completing “Uniting the Isles” and reaching Friendly reputation with five Broken Isles factions. That is a historical Legion example, not a general rule for World Quests.
A more recent, feature-specific example comes from Blizzard’s July 2026 hotfixes: certain Omnium Folio weekly prerequisites became account-wide from Week 2, but each alternate character still needed the Sunstrider Omnium unlock questline. Account-wide progress therefore did not remove every character-specific requirement.

How can I see what a World Quest asks me to do and what it rewards?
Select the relevant zone on the map and inspect the World Quest tooltip. Blizzard’s Legion guide describes tooltips showing required tasks, rewards, and remaining time. Use the live quest’s details as the authority for current content; requirements and rewards shown in older expansion guides may no longer apply.
When choosing between available quests, check the task, stated reward, and time remaining, then consider whether a prerequisite or group setting affects access. A map marker alone does not establish that your character meets every requirement.

Why is a quest unavailable or different when I’m grouped?
Party Sync aligns party members to a shared quest state and phase. Blizzard’s Party Sync preview says some quests a player has already completed can be replayed for rewards appropriate to that player’s actual level, once per day. The preview excluded repeatable quests such as dailies and World Quests from replay. It also notes that a quest can be deactivated if the group no longer meets its requirements.

If a quest changes or disappears after grouping, check whether Party Sync is active and whether the group still satisfies that quest’s eligibility conditions.

What rewards can quests give?
Rewards depend on the particular quest and content. Blizzard’s Legion World Quest guide gave examples including gold, gear, profession reagents, pet charms, and faction reputation. Its Shadowlands event announcement described a separate event package and a requirement to complete 20 World Quests. Those are dated examples for their respective content, not a promise about current quests. Inspect the individual quest’s live tooltip or details before deciding whether its reward is worth pursuing.

Blizzard’s returning-player guide describes Journeys, an Adventure Guide tab intended to consolidate progression such as Renown, Delves, and Prey, with availability tied to the launch of Midnight. Check in-game whether it is available in your version. For ordinary active quest tracking, the documented controls are the map and quest log.
