Wirepicker is a Composer package whose listing describes a date picker for selecting one date or a date range in Laravel projects, with optional Livewire and Alpine integrations. Its listed requirements are PHP 8.2 or later and Illuminate Support and View 11.0 or later; those are stricter than Livewire’s separately documented prerequisites, so check compatibility against the package itself before adding it.

What Wirepicker says it does

The Packagist listing for edulazaro/wirepicker describes Wirepicker as a framework-agnostic date and date-range picker for Laravel, Livewire, and Alpine. Its embedded README summary claims support for selecting a single date or a range, shortcuts, keyboard interaction, CSS-variable theming, and localization through JavaScript’s Intl APIs. These are project-stated features, not independently verified behavior.

The same listing says the component has zero runtime dependencies and can be used with or without Livewire or Alpine. It specifically suggests livewire/livewire for wire:model binding. That establishes the package’s stated integration options, but not the details of its binding API or whether a particular setup needs additional frontend tooling.

Check package requirements separately from Livewire’s

At the time represented by the Packagist listing, Wirepicker version 1.1.0 was published on October 2, 2026, at 19:48 UTC. Its declared requirements are PHP 8.2 or later, illuminate/support 11.0 or later, and illuminate/view 11.0 or later. Because package metadata can change, confirm the current requirements on Packagist and in the project source before installing.

Livewire 4.x Its official installation documentation lists Laravel 10 or later and PHP 8.1 or later as prerequisites, and requires an existing Laravel application. These are Livewire requirements, not Wirepicker’s. Livewire installation documentation

Livewire’s lower minimums do not make Wirepicker compatible with every application that can run Livewire. The package’s declared Illuminate and PHP requirements are the relevant constraints when assessing Wirepicker. The listing also identifies the package as MIT licensed; verify the license in the current project source if that matters to your use.

Why the Livewire integration may matter

Livewire’s official quickstart presents it as a way to build reactive interfaces with PHP and Blade, including form validation and page updates handled through the framework. A picker that can bind a chosen value with wire:model may fit a form built this way. The package listing does not, however, explain the exact property format, event behavior, validation flow, or range-value representation; confirm those in Wirepicker’s current documentation before designing around them.

What to verify before adopting Wirepicker

The package listing is a useful feature summary, but it is not enough to establish how the component behaves in a production application. Check the current repository and documentation for the details that affect your use case:

  • API and installation: Confirm the Composer installation instructions, Blade or component usage, configuration options, and whether any asset registration or build step is required.
  • Selection and values: Determine how single dates and ranges are represented, formatted, submitted, and validated. Check whether it supports constraints such as disabled dates or limits; the listing does not establish this.
  • Interaction and accessibility: The listing claims keyboard interaction, but does not specify key behavior, screen-reader support, or accessibility conformance. Test the actual interface against your requirements.
  • Locale and calendar behavior: Verify which locales and date formats are supported through Intl, how locale settings are selected, and whether the component supports right-to-left layouts or any non-Gregorian calendar. Those capabilities are not established by the summary.
  • Browser and time-zone behavior: Check the supported browser matrix and how dates are interpreted across time zones, especially if users and servers operate in different zones.
  • Maintenance and project health: Review current release history, issue activity, tests, documentation, and licensing in the project’s primary sources. A registry version or feature list alone does not establish maintenance quality.

How to compare it with alternatives

Other Packagist results describe, among other options, a Jalali/Gregorian Livewire picker with range selection and a standalone Livewire date and range picker. Those descriptions are starting points for a comparison, not enough evidence to rank the packages. Compare current primary sources against the requirements of your application:

  • PHP, Laravel or Illuminate, and Livewire version compatibility.
  • Calendar systems and selection modes, including single dates, ranges, multiple dates, constraints, and formatting.
  • Livewire binding behavior, Alpine assumptions, runtime dependencies, and frontend build requirements.
  • Theme customization, locale handling, and right-to-left support where needed.
  • Release recency, documentation, issue response, tests, and license.

Do not infer that Wirepicker is faster, more accessible, more reliable, or better than those alternatives from the available feature summaries; no comparative testing establishes those claims.
