Winix also advertises larger areas for slower cleaning intervals; those figures do not describe the same air-change rate. Independent measurements and directory data add useful context, but they use distinct methods and should not be treated as interchangeable.
What the Winix C610 is—and what it filters
Winix describes the C610 as a 360-degree, four-stage purifier. Air passes through a fine-mesh pre-filter, a True HEPA filter, and an activated-carbon layer; the unit also includes PlasmaWave technology. The mesh pre-filter is the cleanable stage, while the all-in-one filter is replaced as a unit.

Winix says its True HEPA filter captures 99.99% of airborne allergens down to 0.01 microns, citing independent report CT24-046161K and modified SPS-KACA 002-132:2022 standards. This is a manufacturer-reported test claim, not a guarantee of a particular result in every room. The available information does not establish the C610 filter’s carbon mass or a measured level of odor or gas removal. RTINGS notes that activated-carbon filters generally need substantial carbon material to meaningfully affect odors and gaseous contaminants.

How large a room can the C610 clean?
For a room-size decision, start with the cleaning rate you expect rather than the largest area printed on a product page. Winix’s AHAM-verified rating is 384 sq ft at 4.8 ACH, based on tobacco-smoke removal in a room with an eight-foot ceiling. The 4.8 ACH condition means the rated air volume is processed about 4.8 times per hour; it is the relevant figure if you want to compare room coverage at that stated rate.

Winix separately lists larger areas for longer stated cleaning times. Those are not equivalent to the 384-sq-ft, 4.8-ACH rating:

Winix cautions that results vary with room dimensions and contents, pollutant type and level, and airflow profile. A larger room may receive less frequent air turnover, and real-world improvement depends on the space and its conditions.

What independent and directory figures say
RTINGS reports a measured PM1.0 CADR of 424 m³/hr (250 CFM) and recommends a 390-sq-ft room at maximum fan speed. Its review was updated September 22, 2026, and says these measurements were made with PlasmaWave disabled. ENERGY STAR lists a PM2.5-free CADR of 250 CFM and smoke-free CADR per watt of 6.26 in a product export dated May 14, 2026. These are separately attributed figures with different descriptions and methods; they should not be combined into a single test result.
Controls, sensors, noise, and physical size
The C610 has an air-quality sensor, an LED air-quality indicator, and automatic mode, which adjusts fan operation based on detected air quality. Winix lists five fan speeds, sleep mode, Wi-Fi and app control, and Alexa and Google Home compatibility. RTINGS also describes automatic fan adjustment and app control. If you prefer not to use PlasmaWave, RTINGS says the feature can be switched off.

Winix lists a minimum noise specification of 22 dB; that is a minimum, not a complete noise range for all five speeds. The purifier measures 10.42 × 10.42 × 18.54 inches and weighs 8.35 lb. The manual specifies 45 W and 120 V/60 Hz, so check electrical compatibility if you are outside the relevant market.
PlasmaWave and the ozone qualification
For readers weighing the optional PlasmaWave feature, Winix reports an 8-hour time-weighted average ozone result of 0.33 ppbv in a 30 m³ chamber. That is a result under the stated test conditions, not a measurement of every room or operating situation. Winix directs users to the manual’s safety instructions; RTINGS says PlasmaWave can be disabled.

Filter replacement and routine care
The C610 uses genuine Winix Filter Z, SKU 1712-0121-00. The manual estimates approximately 12 months for the 360-degree all-in-one filter, with the interval varying by environment. Winix’s Filter Z page describes it as a one-year replacement set and confirms C610 compatibility.

The pre-filter is the only part that should be cleaned; do not wash or clean the all-in-one filter.
- When replacing the all-in-one filter, use Filter Z, SKU 1712-0121-00, and follow the manual’s installation directions.

Is the Winix C610 a good choice?
The C610 is a sensible candidate if its 384-sq-ft AHAM-verified coverage at 4.8 ACH fits your room, and you value automatic operation, app control, and a cleanable pre-filter. Its published performance figures are useful, but no single number predicts the result in every space. If odor or gaseous-pollutant reduction is a priority, the available figures do not establish how much the C610’s carbon layer removes.
Before choosing it over another purifier, compare room ratings at the same ACH or cleaning interval, CADR values measured for the same particle category and method, noise at the fan speed you will actually use, whether optional technology can be disabled, and replacement-filter cost and availability. The available information does not establish a head-to-head winner against another named model.
