Separately from WineHQ’s official highlight list, Phoronix reported that Wine Wayland implemented the color-management protocol for the Vulkan color space. That is additional reporting, not one of the release announcement’s listed highlights; it does not establish compatibility results for a particular application or display setup. - ArcGIS Pro crashing at startup (#45969).
- A Wine startup pause reported on macOS and Linux (#60322).
- Euro Truck Simulator 2 failing to start with OpenGL when using the EGL backend (#60343).

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does Wine 11.19 fix a specific application?
The release notes can answer that only when they list the relevant issue. For example, ArcGIS Pro startup, Euro Truck Simulator 2 with OpenGL and the EGL backend, and Wine Notepad’s “Replace All” are named in the fix list. For software not identified there, Wine 11.19’s general changes are not evidence that a particular program will work better. Results can depend on the application and system configuration.
What kind of release is Wine 11.19?
Wine is a compatibility layer for running Windows applications on POSIX-compliant systems such as Linux, macOS, and BSD. WineHQ explains that it translates Windows API calls into POSIX calls; unlike a virtual machine or emulator, it does not simulate a computer. That design does not mean every Windows application is compatible.
WineHQ’s project overview listed Wine 11.0 as stable and Wine 11.19 as development at the time shown. They belong to different release tracks, rather than being equivalent package choices. Wine 11.19 is therefore an upstream development release, not a claim that every distribution has made it available as an installable package.
Where can you download Wine 11.19?
The WineHQ announcement links to the Wine 11.19 source archive, distribution download sites for binary packages, and Wine documentation. Check your distribution’s package source or WineHQ’s linked download information for package availability and installation instructions. The release announcement does not establish that all distributions have packaged this version.
