Windows Central reported on September 30, 2026, that Windows 11 version 26H2 will be the last officially supported release for Snapdragon 850 PCs. That is a report about Windows 11 computers—not a notice that HoloLens 2 is losing support. Although HoloLens 2 uses the Snapdragon 850 Compute Platform, it runs Windows Holographic OS, a separate operating system based on a flavor of Windows 10.
What is the last supported Windows 11 version for Snapdragon 850 PCs?
According to Windows Central’s September 30, 2026 report, Windows 11 version 26H2 is the final officially supported Windows release for PCs with a Snapdragon 850 processor. The report attributes that conclusion to a notice on Microsoft’s Windows 11 Lifecycle Policy page, but the notice was not directly available in the official material retrieved for this article. Yes. Microsoft’s supported Qualcomm processors list includes Snapdragon 850 and explains that its entries meet Windows 11’s minimum processor floor. The page also cautions that devices with these processors may not have been manufactured with Windows 11 preinstalled and may only be upgraded by the customer.

That page was last updated October 30, 2025—before the September 2026 report. It describes processor eligibility, but its earlier update date means it does not settle what a later lifecycle notice says about future Windows releases. Compatibility at the minimum hardware-floor level and ongoing support for future versions are distinct questions.
Does this change affect HoloLens 2?
The Windows 11 PC report does not, by itself, establish a change to HoloLens 2 support. Microsoft identifies the Snapdragon 850 Compute Platform as HoloLens 2’s system-on-chip, but describes HoloLens 2 as running Windows Holographic OS, based on a flavor of Windows 10. Microsoft also says it continues ARM32 and ARM64 support on HoloLens 2. Those statements concern the HoloLens platform, not standard Windows 11 PC releases.

What should HoloLens 2 owners know about charging and maintenance?
Microsoft says HoloLens 2 remains fully functional while charging. To maintain or increase the internal battery charge while it is on, the device needs a charger rated at least 15 W; Microsoft specifies the included supply as 18 W (9 V at 2 A). The 2–3-hour active-use figure is a manufacturer specification, not a guaranteed runtime for every workload or device.
For routine upkeep, Microsoft says the brow pad can be removed and replaced as needed. Confirm that a replacement part is specifically compatible with HoloLens 2 before buying one.

Is HoloLens 2 still available, and what support dates apply?
The UK Microsoft Store Development Edition page was marked unavailable and out of stock when retrieved. Its support wording says qualifying UK units purchased through December 2024 have a minimum security-update period through December 31, 2027; units purchased after that date receive three years from purchase. These terms are specific to that UK Store page and product listing. They do not establish current stock elsewhere or universal support terms for every HoloLens 2 model and region.
