To create a new Windows 11 26H2 Cloud PC, create a Windows 365 provisioning policy in the Microsoft Intune admin center, choose a 26H2 gallery image, configure its join and network options, and assign the policy to a Microsoft Entra group. Eligible, licensed users in that group can then be provisioned. Because image availability may vary by tenant, first confirm that the image you want appears in the target tenant’s selector.
Check requirements before creating the policy
This workflow is for organizations using Windows 365 Enterprise with Intune. Before you start, confirm the following requirements with Microsoft’s Windows 365 requirements documentation:

- The tenant’s Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Entra services are working.
- The administrator has the Intune Administrator or Windows 365 Administrator role.
- Each intended user has the required Windows E3, Intune, Microsoft Entra ID P1, and Windows 365 licenses.
- Each intended user belongs to a Microsoft Entra group that will be assigned to the policy.
- You have chosen a network model and, if using your own Azure network, prepared its subscription and required permissions.
A Microsoft Entra-joined Cloud PC using the Microsoft-hosted network does not require your organization to have an Azure subscription. Using a customer Azure network does require an active Azure subscription and the documented Windows 365 network permissions.

Windows 365 Enterprise update notes list three Windows 11 Enterprise 26H2 gallery images: Windows 365 Enterprise updates identify the standard Enterprise image, Enterprise with Microsoft Apps, and Enterprise Developer Configuration with M365 Apps. The right choice depends on the intended workload and whether you want those apps included in the image.

The published list does not establish that every image is available to every tenant, license type, or region. Check the gallery in the tenant where you will create the policy before planning around a particular image.
Choose the network and join type to match how users must access organizational resources. Microsoft Entra Join with the Microsoft-hosted network is the simpler option when it meets those requirements. A customer network entails the Azure subscription and permissions noted above, as well as the relevant Azure network connection setup. The gallery image and network are separate policy choices; verify the combination you need is selectable in your tenant.

Create and assign the provisioning policy
- Sign in to the Microsoft Intune admin center.
- Go to Devices > Provision Cloud PCs > Provisioning policies, then select Create policy.
- On General, enter a policy name and, if useful, a description. Select the experience and license type appropriate for the deployment.
- Choose the join type and network. For a customer network, select the prepared Azure network connection and ensure its prerequisites are in place.
- Select the Windows 11 Enterprise 26H2 image that appears in the gallery and matches the intended workload.
- Set optional provisioning options and scope tags if your organization uses them.
- Assign one or more Microsoft Entra groups, review the policy, and create it.
- Confirm that assigned users have the required licenses, then monitor Cloud PC provisioning status in Intune.
Windows 365 uses the first assigned policy applicable to a user’s Cloud PC license. A user without the required license is not provisioned. See Microsoft’s policy creation steps and provisioning overview for the policy’s inputs and assignment behavior.
Understand image updates and changes to existing Cloud PCs
Windows 365 gallery images are updated monthly after the Windows security update cycle; updated images are generally available in Intune near the end of the month’s third week. Newly provisioned Cloud PCs use current images. Image requirements, including the Gen2 requirement for newly created custom images, are documented in Device images in Windows 365.

Changing a provisioning policy does not automatically rebuild Cloud PCs that have already been provisioned. To rebuild an existing Cloud PC with changed policy or image settings, use the reprovision action. Reprovisioning rebuilds the device, so treat it as a lifecycle operation rather than assuming a policy edit updates an existing machine in place.

Intune’s What’s new in Microsoft Intune page reports that a Windows 11 version 26H2 security baseline is available. Existing baseline profiles do not update automatically to that version. Create a new profile or update an existing one, review the setting differences, and test the settings your organization intends to enforce before deploying broadly.

Keep Windows 11 release status separate from tenant image availability
Microsoft reported Windows 11 version 26H2 general availability and a phased rollout for eligible existing Windows devices as of September 29, 2026, in its Windows 11 26H2 release health information. That operating-system release status is not confirmation that a particular 26H2 image is selectable for Windows 365 in your tenant; check the provisioning policy’s image gallery directly.
