Your T-Mobile phone may work abroad, but roaming is not automatically free or unlimited: what you get depends on your exact plan and destination. Before you leave, check the country, then compare your plan’s high-speed data allowance and calling terms with any International Pass you may need.
Start with your destination and exact plan
T-Mobile says qualifying plans include roaming benefits in more than 215 countries and destinations, but coverage and terms vary. A capable device is required, some locations have no coverage, and T-Mobile says the benefit is not intended for extended international use. Its coverage figure is a current vendor claim, not an independently measured statistic.

Use T-Mobile’s international roaming page to look up your destination and check your account for its plan name and terms. Do not assume that a plan name, benefit or country listing applies to every customer; names and allowances can change. T-Mobile also identifies pay-per-use destinations where plan benefits or Pass coverage may not apply, with rates that vary by country.
What roaming data may be included?
T-Mobile’s page describes these high-speed data amounts for its named plan groups. Confirm that your own account is eligible and that the live terms still match before relying on them.

| Plan group described by T-Mobile | High-speed data in 215+ destinations | After high-speed data |
|---|---|---|
| Experience Beyond / Go5G Next | Up to 15GB | Unlimited data at up to 256 Kbps |
| Experience More / Go5G Plus / Magenta MAX | Up to 5GB | Unlimited data at up to 256 Kbps |
These are the allowances T-Mobile’s roaming page describes for those plan groups; they are not a guarantee for every plan or every destination. The slower speed after the high-speed allowance may be adequate for basic messaging, but activities that move a lot of data can feel constrained. Verify the details for your plan on T-Mobile’s roaming page.
What will calls and texts cost?
For covered destinations, T-Mobile says texts are included and calls are generally $0.50 per minute. It says Wi-Fi calls from covered destinations to the U.S., Canada or Mexico are not charged. Check the destination’s exceptions and your plan’s terms; do not treat the general calling rate as universal.

When an International Pass may make sense
A pass adds high-speed data and unlimited calling for a limited period; it is separate from data already included with an eligible plan. The options shown on T-Mobile’s pass page when accessed October 7, 2026, were:

| 10 days | 15GB | $50 |
| 30 days | 30GB | $75 |
These are volatile listed offers, not guaranteed current prices or eligibility. T-Mobile says the passes include unlimited calling in 215+ countries and destinations. Check the live international roaming page and International Pass page for current destination coverage, terms and availability. T-Mobile says eligible customers can buy through the T-Mobile app, My T-Mobile or a link in a welcome text; account authorization and eligibility may apply.
Compare a pass with your included benefit based on how long you will be away, how much high-speed data you expect to use, and whether you need calls. A pass may be useful when its stated allowance and duration fit your trip, but first check whether your destination and account qualify and whether your plan already provides enough data.

Pre-trip checklist
- Look up the country. Confirm it is covered by your plan or pass, and check for destination-specific restrictions or pay-per-use rates.
- Confirm your plan. Match the exact plan in your account to the current roaming terms; do not infer benefits from a similar plan name.
- Estimate data needs. Compare the included high-speed allowance and any post-allotment speed with what you expect to do online.
- Check calling terms. Verify per-minute rates, included texts and Wi-Fi calling treatment for the destination.
- Compare any pass. Check its data, validity, price, coverage and eligibility against your trip dates and likely usage.
- Confirm your device and account. T-Mobile requires a capable device; check that your account can use the benefit or purchase a pass.
T-Mobile’s roaming page also identifies a Russia-related restriction affecting data and SMS for roaming subscribers entering the country, effective October 6, 2025. Because country restrictions can change, check the current country listing before travel rather than relying on this dated detail alone.

T-Mobile lists a separate prepaid visitor product called the U.S. Pass eSIM. It is distinct from the international roaming benefits and International Pass options discussed above; the supplied product information does not establish that it is a roaming benefit for existing T-Mobile customers. Check its terms separately if you are considering it.
