The BLANCO BRU53X/BRU70X specification sheet, dated 2018, gives a family airflow rating of 650 m³/h and lists 240 V / 10 A power, top-only ducting and overhead-cupboard installation. Because those figures describe the BRU53X family rather than confirming every BRU53X-3 suffix or later revision, treat them as a check against the exact model documentation, not a guarantee about an individual unit. Will it fit your cupboard?
The family sheet lists the dimensions as 396H × 526W × 283D mm. The nominal 53 cm width is not enough to confirm a fit: check the actual cabinet opening, the hood’s full dimensions, mounting clearances and the position of the duct route before cutting or modifying cabinetry.

- Measure the available opening and compare it with the exact BRU53X-3 unit and its installation instructions.
- Confirm there is room above the hood for the specified overhead-cupboard installation and planned duct path.
- Check the electrical supply against the family sheet’s 240 V / 10 A requirement and have installation assessed by a qualified professional where required.
- Verify the model suffix and revision on the product label; family specifications are not proof that every revision is identical.
Ducted or recirculating: which setup makes sense?
The installation instructions describe both external ducting and recirculation through the cupboard. They recommend exhausting outdoors for optimum performance where that is practical, and suggest recirculation when external extraction is not possible. For a ducted installation, keep the run short and straight as the manual advises, and check the route and duct size against the exact unit’s instructions. The product listing recommends a 150 mm duct pipe, while the family specification sheet identifies top-only ducting.
In recirculating mode, air is filtered and returned to the room rather than vented outdoors. CHOICE’s visible page reports a 41% recirculating-mode score for this model. That is a source-reported result, not a substitute for the locked overall rating or full test details, and it should be checked against the live page before being relied on. Which carbon filter does the BRU53X-3 use?
ACK62260 is the carbon-filter accessory identified for recirculating use: it appears in the BLANCO family specification sheet and CHOICE lists it as the BRU53X-3 filter model. Confirm the exact BRU53X-3 listing and compatibility with the seller or manufacturer before ordering, since accessory availability and product listings can change. The BLANCO specification sheet names the accessory, and CHOICE’s product page lists the model-specific filter.

CHOICE’s visible review page reports that one carbon filter is replaced every four months and gives an annual carbon-filter cost estimate of $180. These are CHOICE’s page-reported figures, not independently refreshed market prices or a current quote; check replacement instructions and current local pricing before calculating the ongoing cost of recirculation.

Who should consider the BRU53X-3?
It may suit a kitchen where a 53 cm undermount hood fits the cabinetry and the buyer wants the choice of external ducting or recirculation. The documented three speeds, halogen lighting and metal grease filter help define its feature set, but they do not establish how effectively or quietly it performs in a kitchen.
Before choosing it over another hood, seek comparable independent extraction and noise results, confirm installation dimensions and duct requirements, check carbon-filter availability and recurring cost if recirculating, and verify local warranty and service support.
