There is one important discrepancy: the official Halo announcement accepts Windows 10 version 22H2, 64-bit, or Windows 11, while the Steam listing names Windows 11 as the minimum. Treat the live store page and current official support guidance as decisive when you buy or install. Do not assume that a Windows 10 system is supported merely because an older announcement mentions it.
How to check your own PC
Gather the exact model names before comparing your computer with the table. “Gaming PC” or “16 GB computer” is not specific enough: the processor generation, graphics-card model and available VRAM determine whether the machine matches the published requirement.
- Check the processor and installed RAM. Press
Ctrl+Shift+Escto open Task Manager, select Performance, then choose CPU and Memory. Record the complete CPU model and the total memory. You can also pressWin+R, entermsinfo32, and read the Processor and Installed Physical Memory (RAM) fields in System Information. - Check the graphics processor and VRAM. In Task Manager, open Performance and select each GPU entry. Record the complete name and the dedicated GPU memory shown. On systems with integrated and discrete graphics, check the discrete adapter that a game will use; shared system memory is not the same as 8 GB of dedicated VRAM.
- Check the Windows edition and version. Open Settings > System > About and note whether Windows is 64-bit. For the detailed build, press
Win+R, enterwinver, and check the version line. A Windows 10 installation must specifically be version 22H2 to match the official minimum announcement, although the Steam listing currently calls for Windows 11. - Check free space and drive type. Open Settings > System > Storage or File Explorer > This PC. Confirm at least 100 GB of free space on an SSD, not merely 100 GB of total capacity. Leave additional room for patches, shader caches and normal Windows operation; a drive that is exactly full after installation can cause update failures.

How to interpret each requirement
Processor: Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i7-10700K minimum
The minimum names are an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and an Intel Core i7-10700K. Compare the full model, not just “Ryzen 5” or “Core i7.” A processor from a newer generation may be faster even if its marketing tier differs, but the published list does not define equivalence for every CPU. If your model is older, lower-tier or substantially below these examples, treat compatibility as uncertain rather than claiming it meets the requirement.

The Steam recommended processors are an AMD Ryzen 7 7700 or Intel Core i7-12700K. Those parts indicate a higher target for settings or headroom, but they are not required for the game to satisfy its minimum CPU specification.
Graphics card and the separate 8 GB VRAM condition
The official minimum lists an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Super, AMD Radeon RX 6600 or Intel Arc A580, plus 8 GB of VRAM. The VRAM figure matters independently of the GPU family. A card with a similar-sounding name but less than 8 GB of dedicated memory does not meet the stated minimum on paper.
The Steam text surfaced for the listing repeats the broad GPU class but does not separately show a VRAM line. That omission does not erase the official 8 GB condition. Check the dedicated-memory figure in Windows and use the stricter, explicitly stated requirement when the two presentations differ.

Steam’s recommended graphics options are an AMD Radeon RX 9070 or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti. They describe a higher performance target, not a required upgrade for every player. Integrated graphics and entry-level laptop adapters are not named in the minimum list, so do not infer support from the presence of a modern DirectX-compatible GPU alone.

You need 16 GB of system RAM to match both the official minimum and the Steam minimum. This is installed memory, not graphics memory. Close background applications before testing, especially browsers, video editors and virtual machines, because a computer with exactly 16 GB can still run short of usable memory.
The Steam listing recommends 32 GB. That gives Windows and other applications more headroom, but it does not turn an otherwise unsupported processor or graphics card into a compliant system.

Storage: a 100 GB SSD
Both sources specify 100 GB of storage, with the official announcement explicitly calling for an SSD. Confirm free capacity rather than the drive’s advertised size. A 100 GB game installation can require more temporary space while unpacking or updating, so keeping a buffer is practical even though no larger official number is stated.
Operating system: resolve the Windows 10/11 conflict
The official Halo specification says Windows 10 22H2 64-bit or Windows 11. The current Steam listing says Windows 11. Because storefront requirements can change independently of an announcement, check the live listing immediately before purchase and again before troubleshooting an installation error. If you are on an older Windows 10 release, it does not match even the more permissive official wording.

- Does not meet the written minimum: less than 16 GB RAM, less than 8 GB dedicated VRAM, no 100 GB of free SSD space, an older Windows release, or a processor and GPU clearly below the listed examples. Upgrading only one item may leave another unmet condition.
- Cannot be answered from the information available: a system description that gives only the brand of the PC, the amount of RAM, or a vague GPU family. Obtain the exact model names first.
What the minimum specification does not promise
Meeting a minimum requirement means the computer falls within the developer’s stated baseline for running the game. It does not specify a guaranteed frame rate, resolution, ray-tracing mode, texture quality, loading time or stability level. Those outcomes depend on graphics settings, drivers, cooling, laptop power limits, background software and later patches.

Similarly, the recommended list is not a benchmark result. It identifies a stronger hardware tier, but neither the official announcement nor the Steam text establishes a measured frame-rate target for either list. Avoid using the requirements as proof that a particular PC will deliver a fixed number of frames per second.
Common mismatch and installation problems
The installer rejects Windows 10
First verify the version with winver. If it is earlier than 22H2, update Windows if your hardware and organization’s policy allow it. If the machine is already on 22H2 but the current Steam page still requires Windows 11, the storefront rule takes precedence for that purchase path; consult the game’s current official support instructions rather than forcing an unsupported installation.
Windows reports the wrong GPU or too little VRAM
Desktop systems can expose integrated and discrete adapters separately, while laptops may switch GPUs by application. Recheck every entry under Task Manager’s GPU list and confirm dedicated memory, not shared memory. Install the manufacturer’s current driver through the normal Windows-supported process, then recheck the model. Do not count system RAM borrowed by an integrated adapter as the official 8 GB VRAM requirement.
There is not enough SSD space
Remove or move unused files, select another internal SSD with sufficient free capacity, or expand the existing drive. Do not rely on a nearly full drive: installation and patching can require temporary working space beyond the final installed size. An external or slower drive may also behave differently from the SSD condition stated in the minimum specification.
The PC has 16 GB RAM but still stutters or fails
Sixteen gigabytes satisfies the written memory threshold, but other processes can consume it. Restart the PC, close unnecessary applications and check Task Manager for memory pressure. If problems remain, compare the CPU, GPU, VRAM, driver state and Windows version individually; RAM alone cannot compensate for a graphics card below the stated class.
Keep the requirements current
Game requirements, store pages and support policies can change before release and after launch. The official Halo announcement and the Steam listing do not currently present identical operating-system wording, and the novel’s specific edition or retail availability is not established by the PC specifications. Recheck the live Steam page and official Halo support information at the time you purchase or install, then repeat the checklist after major hardware or Windows changes.
