As of October 4, 2026, Paramount Skydance’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) had received key regulatory clearances, but Paramount still described the transaction as awaiting completion. A regulatory clearance is not a subscriber price schedule.
Which merger is at issue?
The relevant deal is Paramount Skydance’s proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery—not the earlier Netflix-WBD proposal. WBD’s 2025 Form 10-K says the company terminated its Netflix merger agreement after entering into a merger agreement with Paramount Skydance on February 27, 2026. The filing describes the Paramount transaction as subject to its terms and conditions. WBD’s 2025 Form 10-K
The UK Competition and Markets Authority recorded clearance of the anticipated acquisition on August 6, 2026. Paramount’s announcement that day said the deal had cleared or was not being challenged on competition and/or foreign direct investment grounds in 66 jurisdictions, and described completion as a future step. That tally is Paramount’s account of regulatory status, not evidence of what subscribers will pay or watch. UK CMA case record; Paramount’s clearance announcement
Will my streaming bill go up?
No reviewed official source announces a new subscriber price. The U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division said on June 12, 2026 that it had completed its review and found the proposed merger was not likely to harm competition or American consumers, including in subscription video on demand. That is a competition finding, not an announcement of a price change for any service, country, or subscription tier. DOJ Antitrust Division statement

The DOJ said its review lasted eight months and involved more than two million documents and more than 80 custodians. Those figures describe the government’s review; they do not establish a likely subscription price or consumer outcome.
Will shows or movies disappear from my service?
No final catalog, licensing, or distribution terms for subscribers were announced in the sources reviewed. A combined owner could decide to package or distribute libraries differently, but that possibility is not confirmation that a particular title will leave a service or move elsewhere. Look for a dated announcement from the service before making plans around a specific show or movie.

Will I need a different plan?
No reviewed official source announces a required plan change, bundle, cancellation, or account migration. If terms are announced, check the notice for your country and tier; offers and effective dates may not be identical for every subscriber.
To compare any future plans fairly, check the actual monthly price, included services and catalog, advertising, simultaneous streams, downloads, account migration or cancellation terms, and effective date. The reviewed sources do not establish values for those subscriber-facing details.

What regulatory clearance does—and does not—tell subscribers
Regulators assess competition under their legal frameworks; their decisions do not set a streaming service’s retail price or promise that its catalog will stay unchanged. The DOJ said its conclusion followed an eight-month investigation. The CMA recorded clearance. Neither source provides final consumer terms.
There are competing public characterizations of the potential consumer impact. Paramount said the combination would enhance consumer choice and help create a scaled competitor; that is the company’s position, not a verified benefit for existing subscribers. A December 17, 2025 Senate Commerce Committee affordability snapshot warned that streaming consolidation could reduce standalone options and increase pressure to accept larger bundles. That document predates the final Paramount agreement and describes a policy concern, not proof that this deal will cause a price rise or bundle.
