If your prerecorded yoga video goes black at the loop point, first check the playback control on the OBS source that feeds the stream: enable Loop for a single Media Source file or Loop Playlist for a VLC Video source. Then compare OBS, a local recording, YouTube’s incoming preview, and the watch page to find where the picture disappears. The title alone cannot identify the cause, and not every yoga livestream uses OBS or prerecorded video.
Check the loop control on the source that plays the video
A viewer-side YouTube repeat control is not what loops prerecorded video being sent by an encoder. The repeat setting belongs to the media source or playlist in the software feeding the live stream.

For one video file: OBS Media Source
- In OBS, select the scene used for the stream and identify the source that plays the yoga recording.
- Open that source’s properties and enable Loop. OBS describes this setting as specifying whether the file plays again after playback completes. See the OBS Project’s Media Sources reference.
- Test playback through the end of the file and into the next cycle. A setting change is not proof that every cause of a black screen has been addressed.
For a playlist: OBS VLC Video source
- Confirm the source is a VLC Video source rather than a single-file Media Source.
- Open its properties and check Loop Playlist.
- If VLC Video is not available as a source type, OBS says VLC must be installed for it to appear. See the OBS Project’s Media Sources reference.
Inspect what happens when playback ends
In the OBS Media Source properties, check Show nothing when playback ends. OBS documents that this setting hides the source after the file finishes. That makes it relevant to inspect at a loop boundary, but the documentation does not say that changing it fixes every black screen.
Also verify that the source is visible in the active scene and that the scene or source does not change as playback ends. Test the exact scene and source combination used for the live output.

Find where the picture disappears
Compare the same moment in four places: the OBS preview, a local recording, YouTube’s incoming preview in Live Control Room, and the viewer-facing watch page. These checks narrow the next step; they do not, by themselves, prove the root cause.

Test the loop boundary and check stream health
Before relying on a live event, test the stream through the point where the video loops. YouTube advises checking the Live Control Room preview before going live and monitoring audio and video quality during the stream. Its encoder guide says to wait for the preview to appear before selecting Go live. See Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

If YouTube reports a supported stream-format error, its guidance identifies H.264 video and AAC audio as the expected formats. Do not change formats just because the image goes black at the loop point; first use the OBS and YouTube comparisons to establish whether the problem is in the source, encoder output, or delivery.
Check upload capacity if the outgoing stream is affected
If OBS’s output is healthy but YouTube is not receiving it reliably, check the available upload bandwidth and stream-health messages. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. This is guidance, not proof that a network issue caused a black screen timed to the loop. See YouTube’s streaming tips.

Common causes and fixes to test
- Wrong source control: Use OBS Media Source’s Loop for a single file, or the VLC source’s Loop Playlist for a playlist.
- Source hides at completion: Inspect Show nothing when playback ends and check source visibility in the active scene.
- Black in OBS: Focus on the source and scene before troubleshooting YouTube delivery.
- OBS looks fine but YouTube does not: Check the encoder’s own output, errors, system load, Live Control Room stream health, local archive, and outbound connection.
- Insufficient upload headroom or network disruption: Compare the actual outgoing stream with YouTube’s health indicators; the loop timing alone does not diagnose a network fault.

Record which source type you use, the relevant loop and playback-end settings, whether the OBS preview and local recording are affected, what YouTube’s incoming preview and stream-health messages show, and whether the watch page differs. Those observations give you a concrete starting point for further troubleshooting instead of guessing from the timing alone.
