Check the outlet, charger, cable, debris, moisture warning and software before considering a repair. If you see corrosion or physical damage, or the phone still will not charge after basic checks, stop troubleshooting and arrange service.
Check the charger, cable and outlet first
Disconnect the phone and inspect the charger, cable and device for visible damage. Try a working outlet and a known-good Samsung charger and cable, if available. Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance recommends checking these items before requesting service: Samsung Support: What to do if your Samsung Galaxy phone is not charging.

If the battery is completely depleted, the charging indicator may take up to 10 minutes to appear after you connect a charger. Leave it connected to the working power source briefly before concluding that charging has failed. Samsung’s examples of 25W, 45W and 60W chargers relate to Super Fast Charging compatibility; they are not universal wattage requirements for every Galaxy model.
Inspect the port without damaging it
Unplug the charger, turn the phone off and use a light to look inside the USB-C port. Check for visible lint or debris, corrosion, bent pins, other physical damage, or a cable that fits unusually loosely. Do not push a sharp or metal object into the port: it can damage the connector. Samsung Korea advises gentle airflow for visible debris and recommends a service center if debris remains: Samsung Korea: Charging and USB port guidance.

Do not pour liquid into the port or apply heat directly to the phone. If you cannot see or safely clear debris without probing the connector, leave the port alone and seek service.
Respond to a moisture or debris warning
If the phone displays a moisture or debris warning, disconnect the charger and do not reconnect it while the alert remains. Samsung says charging is blocked to help protect the device from corrosion, heat or fire risk. Do not try to bypass the warning; follow the instructions for your exact device and region, or ask Samsung service for help. The warning and related guidance are described by Samsung Korea.

Restart the phone and test charging again
Once there is no active moisture or debris alert and the port looks clear, restart the phone. Then connect it to a working outlet using the known-good charger and cable. If the phone charges, the original accessory or a temporary software issue may have been responsible; if it does not, that alone still does not prove the port is faulty. Samsung advises requesting service when its troubleshooting checks do not resolve the problem. Its US support page says to visit a walk-in service center or schedule a repair: Samsung Support charging troubleshooting.
Choose the right repair route

Why the exact Galaxy model matters for port replacement
“Samsung Galaxy” is not enough information to choose a charging-port part or repair procedure. The connector may be replaced as part of a charging board or another assembly, and its location and connections vary by model and regional variant. For example, iFixit’s Galaxy S20 guide describes replacing the USB-C port and daughterboard, while its S22 guide describes the USB-C port and charging board. Samsung UK’s self-repair page, updated 19 June 2026, demonstrates a charging-port repair for the Galaxy S21 series and says locations and connectors vary by device. Its self-repair program applies to listed models; consult the guide for your model and region rather than treating the S21 procedure as a general Galaxy recipe. Samsung also cautions that damage caused by improper repair by someone other than a Samsung-certified service provider may not be covered by warranty, and that “Third-party replacement parts may not function properly.” These qualifications apply to the documented self-repair context, not as a universal statement about every repair or warranty: Samsung UK self-repair guides.
Safety limits if you are considering DIY repair
Samsung’s documented S21-series repair involves more than swapping a connector: listed materials include the charging port, screws, an internal metal plate, back-glass adhesive tape and microphone-hole tape. The listed tools include a heating bag, suction cup, opening picks, PH0 screwdriver and opening tool. Samsung also lists a mask, safety glasses and ESD-safe gloves, and instructs users to work in a ventilated area, back up data, power off the phone and remove the SIM tray. Its procedure says not to heat the bag above 65°C. Those details apply to the demonstrated S21-series repair only; use the exact guide for any supported model.

Do not attempt self-repair if the battery is swollen. Samsung’s self-repair announcement advises taking a device with a swollen battery to an authorized location for repair or disposal: Samsung Newsroom: Samsung expands its self-repair program.

- The phone still does not charge after you test a working outlet, known-good charger and cable, restart the device and follow applicable warning instructions.
- You can see corrosion, bent pins or other physical damage.
- Debris remains and cannot be addressed safely without probing the port.
- The battery appears swollen, or you do not have the model-specific instructions, tools or experience for a supported repair.
Samsung’s US support guidance directs owners whose devices still do not charge after its troubleshooting steps to a walk-in service center or an online repair appointment. Local service options and terms may vary; check Samsung’s support page for your region.
