The Galaxy S7 supports wireless charging, so you do not need to enable a hidden setting. If it will not charge, first center it on the pad, remove anything between the phone and charger, and check the pad’s power connection. Work through the checks below before considering a repair.
Check the phone’s position and the charging surfaces
Set the S7 in the center of the pad so the phone and charger coils can align. If charging starts only intermittently or not at all, lift the phone and try repositioning it. Samsung notes that poor alignment can cause slow, interrupted, or failed charging.

Check the phone’s back and the charger surface for dust or debris, and remove anything lying between them. Do not charge with a card, metal object, magnet, or other obstruction between the phone and pad.

Remove the case and attached accessories
Take off the case, skin, or protector and test again. Rings, grips, card holders, and straps attached to a case can interfere with charging. If the S7 works without its case, try the case again on its own before buying a replacement; a thin, plain case without protruding attachments is a reasonable test, but Samsung does not establish a specific thickness limit for the S7.

Disconnect cables and headphones
Unplug any USB cable or charger connected to the phone and disconnect headphones, then place the phone on the pad again. Samsung says these connections can make wireless charging unavailable.
Make sure the pad is powered and suitable
Confirm the charging pad is plugged in and check that its adapter and cable meet the pad maker’s requirements. If possible, test the pad with another compatible device or test the S7 on another wireless charger; this can help distinguish a pad or power problem from an issue with the phone.

The Galaxy S7 supports basic wireless charging, but fast wireless charging is a separate compatibility question. Samsung Developer describes Samsung Wireless Fast Charge as “a proprietary extension to WPC BPP specification” and says it is “not compatible with generic WPC Extended Power Profile (EPP) specification.” As a result, a newer charger’s fast-charge label alone does not establish that it will fast-charge an S7. With a third-party charger, check the maker’s compatibility and certification information. Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance is primarily for Samsung wireless chargers and advises checking certification for non-Samsung fast chargers.

When to contact Samsung service
If the phone still will not charge wirelessly after you have checked placement, removed obstructions and attachments, disconnected cables and headphones, and verified the charger’s power and suitability, Samsung recommends visiting a walk-in service center or scheduling a repair. These external checks cannot identify which component, if any, has failed; that requires inspection.

Why wireless charging can fail on an S7
- The phone is not centered, so its coil does not align with the pad.
- A case, skin, protector, accessory, card, metal object, magnet, or debris is in the way.
- A cable, charger, or headphones remain connected to the phone.
- The pad lacks power, its adapter or cable is unsuitable, or the charger is not compatible with the charging mode you expect.
- The phone needs manufacturer service after the external checks have been ruled out.
These are troubleshooting possibilities, not a diagnosis of a particular handset. Samsung’s compatibility information lists the Galaxy S7 among phones that support wireless charging.
