First check what is actually disconnecting: does Windows lose its connection to your router, or does only DJI Fly lose the controller? Those are different links with different fixes. An aircraft signal or video-feed problem—and a DJI device that a PC cannot see over USB—need their own checks. DJI and Microsoft’s guidance does not establish that connecting a DJI controller to a PC causes Windows Wi-Fi to drop.
Identify which connection is failing
Watch the Windows Wi-Fi indicator and note the exact message or symptom. Use this quick guide to choose the right troubleshooting path:

- Windows disconnects from the router or loses internet: troubleshoot the PC’s Wi-Fi connection.
- Windows stays online, but DJI Fly says the controller is disconnected: check how your phone connects to the controller—USB or Wi-Fi.
- The aircraft’s control signal drops or the image feed freezes: treat it as an aircraft-to-controller signal issue and prioritize safe flight procedures.
- The PC does not recognize a DJI device connected by cable: troubleshoot the USB connection and computer recognition.
A DJI app or video-feed error alone does not show that the PC’s Wi-Fi adapter has disconnected.
If Windows Wi-Fi disconnects from your router
Microsoft’s Windows Wi-Fi troubleshooting guidance covers Windows 10 and Windows 11. Start with the network troubleshooter, then check the adapter’s power settings and possible router-channel interference. Microsoft’s Wi-Fi connection troubleshooting guide provides the steps for your Windows version.

- In addition to Normal and Sport modes, the DJI FPV Remote Controller 3 offers Manual mode, better suited for advanced players to practice and master more sophisticated skills.
- For a tailored control stick feel, it is recommended to use the included screwdriver for adjustments. For more details, check the manual or tutorial videos.
- DJI FPV Remote Controller 3 is compatible with a variety of simulators including Liftoff, Uncrashed, DCL, and The Drone Racing League.
- DJI Neo, DJI Avata 2, DJI O3 Air Unit, DJI O4 Air Unit Pro, DJI O4 Air Unit
- Run the network troubleshooter. In Windows 11, Microsoft directs users to Get Help for network troubleshooting. Follow the prompts for the Wi-Fi problem.
- Check wireless adapter power settings. Review the adapter’s power-management settings so power saving is not turning it off during use.
- Consider router-channel interference. If Wi-Fi drops frequently, Microsoft suggests checking for interference from the router’s wireless channel. Router settings vary by model, so consult its instructions rather than guessing at a channel.
- Reinstall the adapter driver only if simpler steps fail. If you do not have internet access, secure the correct driver from your PC maker before removing the existing one. Microsoft lists driver reinstallation and restarting as later troubleshooting options.
If Windows remains connected throughout a DJI app error, these PC-to-router steps are unlikely to address the controller link; use the relevant DJI branch below.
If DJI Fly loses the controller while Windows stays online
Check how the phone connects to the controller. DJI’s instructions differ by model: some setups use a cable, while others connect the phone to the controller over Wi-Fi. The exact steps also depend on the DJI app and controller model. See DJI’s controller-to-mobile-device troubleshooting guidance.

For a wired phone-to-controller connection
- Confirm that the cable is connected to the correct port.
- Disconnect and reconnect the cable; try another compatible cable if available.
- Restart the controller.
For a Wi-Fi phone-to-controller connection
- Check whether another device has joined the controller’s Wi-Fi network.
- Check whether the phone’s WLAN+ or Wi-Fi-assistant feature is switching away automatically because the controller’s network has no internet access.
These checks concern the phone-controller link, not the PC’s connection to its router. Do not assume a cable or phone setting applies to every DJI model.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →If the aircraft signal or image feed drops
A loss of aircraft control signal or image transmission is a flight-safety issue, not a routine PC Wi-Fi fault. Follow the aircraft’s failsafe behavior and DJI’s safety guidance; do not divert attention from safely controlling an aircraft in flight to troubleshoot settings. DJI lists antenna orientation, obstacles, wireless interference, and possible controller hardware errors among potential signal problems. Its remote-controller signal guidance recommends inspection if its checks do not resolve the problem.

For image-transmission problems, DJI also identifies interference and firmware compatibility as possible causes. Where the app offers channel-status information and automatic channel selection, check the channel status and use Auto selection as appropriate. Model and app availability vary; consult DJI’s image-transmission troubleshooting guidance for the specific product.

This is a computer-connection problem, not a PC-to-router Wi-Fi drop. DJI recommends checking that the device is powered on, trying another USB cable, checking Device Manager for driver errors, installing the DJI Assistant 2 version intended for the product, and testing another computer if possible. Product model determines the appropriate software and connection details. Follow DJI’s computer-connection troubleshooting guidance and choose software for your device.

If replacing a cable, verify that it fits the controller’s port and supports data; the title alone does not identify a compatible connector. A cable cannot fix a PC’s wireless connection to its router.
When to seek service
If the phone-controller connection still fails after basic checks, DJI says a persistent problem across Android and iOS can indicate a controller-port fault and recommends sending the controller to DJI for inspection. For unresolved aircraft signal problems, DJI also recommends inspection. Use the product-specific support guidance rather than assuming every disconnect has the same cause.
