A WNBA game can be unavailable live on League Pass because a local or national broadcaster has exclusive live rights—not because the app is necessarily broken. Which games are blocked depends on the country, market, matchup, and your current location. Check the game’s current broadcast listing, then watch through the authorized broadcaster or use the League Pass replay when it becomes available.
Why a WNBA game is blacked out
The WNBA says blackout restrictions exist because local and national content providers have exclusive rights to televise certain games live. A League Pass subscription therefore does not guarantee live access to every game in the United States or Canada. The restriction applies to the specific game and your location, rather than to every viewer everywhere. The WNBA Help Center explains the current blackout rules.

Which games are affected in your market?
United States: local and national broadcasts
In the US, locally televised games involving your local WNBA team or teams are unavailable live on League Pass. The WNBA says it determines the local market using your device’s IP address or, if enabled, location services. Its blackout guidance also lets you use a ZIP code to identify which teams’ local games are affected.

National broadcasts listed by the WNBA Help Center as unavailable live on League Pass include games carried by ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, Disney+, CBS, Paramount+, NBC, Peacock, USA Network, and Amazon Prime Video. The WNBA notes that its list may be updated, so check the current schedule rather than relying on an old channel list.

Canada: national-provider restrictions
In Canada, the WNBA lists national telecasts on TSN, SN, CTV, and CTV2 as unavailable live on League Pass. The applicable broadcaster depends on the game and current listing.
Selected events
The WNBA’s blackout article also says the All-Star Friday Night event, All-Star Game, and Commissioner’s Cup championship game are not available live on League Pass in the US or Canada; those events become available on demand after they conclude. Confirm the current event listing because rights and availability can change.
How to find the authorized live broadcast
- Identify the game. Note the teams, date, and your country. A rights blackout is different from a playback error, account issue, or network problem.
- Check the WNBA schedule. Find the current broadcaster listed for that game and your market. Use the WNBA schedule rather than an older channel guide.
- Check League Pass availability. The League Pass packages page includes a US ZIP-code lookup. Use it to check which local games are blocked before subscribing.
- Watch through the named provider. Depending on the game, that may be a local broadcast station, regional sports network, or national distributor. A streaming subscription only helps if the current listing confirms it carries that game in your market.
When a League Pass replay becomes available
Replay timing depends on the type of blackout. According to the WNBA’s current guidance, a nationally blacked-out US game becomes available on League Pass at 6 a.m. ET the following day. A locally televised game becomes available shortly after it ends. In Canada, a game subject to a national-provider blackout becomes available shortly after it concludes.

If your location seems wrong
The WNBA uses your IP address or, when enabled, device location services to determine your market. If League Pass shows an unexpected local blackout, check that location services are enabled if you use them and that your internet connection reports your current location. These checks can help identify a location mismatch; they do not remove a blackout that applies to your market under the broadcast rights.
Why a VPN is not a recommended fix
Using a VPN or another method to disguise your location does not change the broadcaster’s rights to the game. The League Pass subscriber agreement prohibits attempting to circumvent restrictions and warns that violations may result in immediate termination, a $100 early-termination charge, and possible legal action. The authorized broadcaster listed for the game, or its later League Pass replay, is the appropriate viewing option.
Check access before you subscribe
The WNBA’s League Pass page displayed a price of $39.99 per year when checked on October 4, 2026; prices can change, so confirm the current price on the product page. More importantly, use the ZIP-code lookup and schedule to verify access to the games you actually want to watch. League Pass is also available through the WNBA app on web, mobile, Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku, according to the app’s platform guidance. A supported TV device provides access to the app; it does not lift a blackout.
