Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, widely known as RGV, argues that people should adapt to artificial intelligence rather than try to defeat it. In a post attributed to him by the Deccan Chronicle on October 5, 2026, he wrote: “When you can’t WIN, you should JOIN. If you fight AI, it will ERASE you out of EXISTENCE.”

What does RGV mean by “join” AI?

Varma’s message is that resisting AI may leave people unable to keep pace with a technology he considers difficult to stop. “Join,” in this framing, means adapting to AI and finding ways to work with it, rather than treating it only as an opponent. The post is a warning and a personal argument—not evidence that AI will inevitably erase people who oppose it.

How does he connect AI to filmmaking?

Varma has discussed AI’s potential effects on artistic work and cinema. The Deccan Chronicle report attributes to him the view that AI could streamline writing, editing and visual production, potentially reducing logistical delays and budgets in filmmaking. These are his expectations for how the technology might be used, not established results or measured savings.

His argument is therefore practical as well as rhetorical: if AI changes parts of film production, people in the industry may need to learn how to use it. That does not, by itself, show which roles or workflows will change, or how quickly.

What has he said about education and work?

Varma’s comments extend beyond cinema. An India Today report published July 27, 2026, covered his view that AI could diminish the value of degrees and affect professional work. That is his forecast, not a demonstrated conclusion about education or employment.

Taken together, the reports show a consistent position: Varma sees AI as a force that could reshape education and creative industries, and advises people to adapt. They do not establish how extensive those changes will be or whether his predictions will come true.
