Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf RCS messages aren’t working on your iPhone, first check that your iPhone is running iOS 18 or later, your text-messaging plan is eligible, and your carrier supports RCS on iPhone in your country or region. Then open Settings > Apps > Messages > RCS Messaging and turn it on. If that option is missing, availability may be the issue—not a fault with your phone. RCS is carrier-provided, so support varies by provider and region.
Why are my RCS messages not working on my iPhone?
The cause depends on what “not working” means. A message that will not send, missing RCS features, and a green bubble are different symptoms. Green bubbles can be RCS or SMS/MMS; only blue bubbles identify iMessage. A green conversation can continue through SMS or MMS even when RCS is unavailable.

Apple says RCS on iPhone requires iOS 18 or later, a text-messaging plan, and a provider that supports RCS on iPhone. Availability varies by provider and region. See Apple’s comparison of iMessage, RCS and SMS/MMS.
Why can’t I find RCS Messaging in Settings?
On supported iPhones, the control is at Settings > Apps > Messages > RCS Messaging. Turn on RCS Messaging if the option appears. Apple notes that RCS may not be available if the setting is absent; check with your carrier whether it supports RCS for your country or region, iPhone, plan and line. Updating iOS may also be appropriate if the phone is not on iOS 18 or later.
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
When enabling RCS for the first time, allow time for activation. The setting’s presence alone does not establish that the line is provisioned correctly. Apple’s setup instructions are at Turn on RCS messaging on your iPhone; its iPhone user guide also notes that not all carriers or countries and regions support RCS.
Why won’t my iPhone send RCS messages to Android?
RCS needs Wi-Fi or mobile data. Check that the iPhone has a working connection, then retry the message. If other internet services also fail, restore connectivity first. If data works but RCS messages to Android still fail, the carrier should check RCS availability and line provisioning. A green bubble or a successful SMS fallback does not prove that RCS itself is working.

Try these low-risk checks
- Confirm RCS Messaging is on at Settings > Apps > Messages > RCS Messaging, if available.
- Check Wi-Fi or mobile data by opening a webpage or another internet service.
- Restart the iPhone, then retry sending the message.
- If a message shows Not Delivered, use the retry option. If offered, you can send it as a text message, but that is a fallback—not a repair or confirmation of RCS.
Apple’s troubleshooting guidance covers connection checks, retrying, restarting and contacting the provider: If you can’t send or receive messages on your iPhone or iPad.

Why are my iPhone messages green?
Green means the conversation is using RCS or SMS/MMS rather than iMessage; it does not distinguish between those two services. iMessage conversations appear blue. If your question is only about bubble color, a green bubble is not by itself evidence of a fault. If you expect RCS features but do not have them, check the RCS setting and carrier support instead. Apple explains the color distinction in Why are my iPhone messages green?.

|---|---|---|---|
| iMessage | Blue | Uses Wi-Fi or mobile data; Apple messaging service | Messages are sent as iMessage between supported Apple devices and accounts. |
| RCS | Green | Uses Wi-Fi or mobile data; requires a carrier that supports RCS on iPhone | Carrier-provided messaging with supported features; availability varies. |
| SMS/MMS | Green | Carrier service; SMS needs mobile network service, with Wi-Fi Calling potentially supporting SMS | Text or media messaging that may be used when iMessage or RCS is unavailable. |
Did a new iPhone or SIM change trigger the problem?
If the issue began after setting up a new iPhone or changing SIMs, check that the intended mobile line is turned on and selected for messaging. Update iOS, toggle iMessage off and back on, then verify the number in Settings > Apps > Messages > Send & Receive. These steps address line and iMessage activation settings; they do not establish carrier RCS support.
Specific iOS 26 duplicate-SIM case
Apple documents an iOS 26 issue in which an active SIM and an inactive SIM with the same number can interfere with iMessage activation. Symptoms can include undelivered iMessages, green SMS/RCS messages, or duplicate numbers under Send & Receive. Apple’s guidance is to update to iOS 26.1 or later or remove the inactive SIM, then select the number in Send & Receive. Do not delete an eSIM unless you have confirmed it is inactive. See Apple’s iOS 26 iMessage activation guidance.

When should you contact your carrier or Apple?
Contact your carrier about availability and provisioning
Ask whether RCS is supported for your country or region, plan, iPhone and specific line, and whether RCS is provisioned on that line. Contact the carrier for persistent RCS, SMS or MMS problems; those services depend on carrier support.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Contact Apple about iPhone messaging settings
If your carrier confirms RCS support and provisioning, but the problem appears tied to iOS, iMessage activation or an Apple messaging setting, contact Apple Support. For issues affecting multiple message types, describe which services fail and whether the phone has working Wi-Fi or mobile data; that helps separate a connection problem from an RCS availability problem.
