Raspberry Pi raised the US price of both the 2GB Raspberry Pi 4 and 2GB Raspberry Pi 5 by $12.50 on 1 October 2026, setting them at $67.50 and $77.50, respectively. The change reflects rising memory costs, but it affects only those two configurations—not every Raspberry Pi model.
Which Raspberry Pi models went up in price?
Raspberry Pi’s 1 October 2026 announcement set the official US prices for the 2GB boards as follows:
| Model | Previous price | Price from 1 October 2026 | Dollar increase | Percentage increase |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Raspberry Pi 4 2GB | $55 | $67.50 | $12.50 | 23%, compared with the previous $55 price (Tom’s Hardware) |
| Raspberry Pi 5 2GB | $65 | $77.50 | $12.50 | 19%, compared with the previous $65 price (Tom’s Hardware) |
The dollar prices and increases come from Raspberry Pi’s announcement; the percentage comparisons are reported by Tom’s Hardware. Percentages depend on the baseline: Tom’s Hardware also notes that the Pi 5 2GB is 55% above its original $50 MSRP, a different comparison from the rise since the immediately preceding price.
Why did Raspberry Pi raise the prices?
The company says memory costs have continued to rise, making it no longer sustainable to hold the 2GB prices steady through the April increase. In April, Raspberry Pi said the price of LPDDR4 DRAM used in the Pi 4 and Pi 5 had risen seven-fold over the preceding year. That is the company’s account of its input costs, not an independently measured market-wide price series.

Blending minimalist aesthetics with functional excellence, it delivers both reliability and style.
- High-Efficiency Active Cooling System: The active cooler anodized aluminum in tandem with a PWM-controlled fan, paired with a specially designed ventilated case. This combination rapidly reduces chip temperatures, ensuring the Pi 5 consistently operates at peak performance. Even during high-load scenarios like 4K video decoding and programming development, the system maintains continuous stability without throttling.
- Classic Black ABS Case: The black Case switch features a transparent, integrated design for easy monitoring of indicator light status. Stylish appearance, robust and durable construction, removable top cover, and precision port openings for effortless access to all connections.
In February, Raspberry Pi attributed earlier LPDDR4 cost increases to competition for memory fabrication capacity from AI infrastructure. It said some component costs had more than doubled over the preceding quarter. That figure applies to some parts as described by the company, not to all memory or all Raspberry Pi components.
Tom’s Hardware describes shortages affecting LPDDR4 and LPDDR5. Raspberry Pi’s October statement refers generally to rising memory costs, while the company’s cited earlier posts specifically identify LPDDR4. The official statements therefore do not independently confirm the secondary report’s LPDDR5 shortage characterization.

- Package Include: 1x Pi 5 2GB, 1x Pi 5 Case, 1x Active Cooler.
- Lightweight texture: Compared to metal case,ABS case have a softer texture and feel, and the rounded design prevents damage to motherboard components. Meanwhile, the red and white color scheme of the ABS case is visually simple, clean and comfortable.
- Specialized case design: This case is specially designed for Raspberry Pi5, perfectly fits the motherboard and can be fixed with 4 screws, which can effectively protect the Pi 5 motherboard from damage and external interference. The case is partially hollowed out to ensure heat dissipation. Equipped with transparent power button, you can easily observe the status of Pi5 power indicator.
- iRasptek PWM Active Cooler: Features intelligent speed control that dynamically responds to system demand. Under Pi OS, the fan remains off at low temperatures (≤50°C) for ultimate silence; ramps up linearly at medium temperatures (50-65°C) for efficient, low-noise cooling; and operates at full speed at high temperatures (≥65°C) to aggressively dissipate heat and prevent thermal throttling. Embedded within the system’s core drivers, it continuously safeguards your board, ensuring stable, sustained, and high-performance operation.
- Welcome to the latest generation of Pi5: the everything computer. Featuring a 64-bit quad-core Arm Cortex-A76 processor running at 2.4GHz, Pi 5 delivers a 2–3× increase in CPU performance relative to Pi 4. Alongside a substantial uplift in graphics performance from an 800MHz VideoCore VII GPU; dual 4Kp60 display output ; and state-of-the-art camera support from a rearchitected Image Signal Processor, it provides a smooth desktop experience for consumers, and opens the door to new applications for industrial customers.
What stayed the same?
Raspberry Pi said the 1GB Pi 4 and 1GB Pi 5 prices are unchanged, as are the 2GB Compute Module 4 and Compute Module 5. The October increase was not an across-the-board price rise.
Raspberry Pi’s April announcement also introduced a 3GB Pi 4 at $83.75 and increased prices for higher-capacity boards and other products. Those April changes are separate from the October adjustments to the two 2GB boards.

Is this the third price increase of 2026?
The headline’s “third price hike” wording needs a defined counting method. The Raspberry Pi announcements cited here describe price rounds in February, April and October; Tom’s Hardware describes October as a second round after April. Since the sources frame the sequence differently, it is more precise to call October another 2026 increase and identify the two affected models than to present “third” as an undisputed count.

Check whether 2GB is necessary
Choose RAM for the workload rather than buying extra capacity by default. If a 1GB Pi 4 or Pi 5 meets the project’s needs, Raspberry Pi says those prices have not changed. An older Pi 3 may also suit some projects, but it should not be assumed to perform like a newer board for every task.

Could prices come down again?
Raspberry Pi author and CEO Eben Upton said the memory supply situation was “very challenging,” but added that it would not last forever. The company said it looks forward to reversing its own price increases when memory prices subside. That is an outlook, not a date or guarantee of a future reduction.
