If Nintendo Music downloads are missing or will not play offline, first check that you are using the mobile app: the web version does not support offline playback. In the app, tracks can expire after an extended time without an internet connection. For Nintendo’s listed support codes, connect to the internet and leave the app running for about 30 minutes; the steps differ slightly on Android and iOS.
Check whether you’re using the app or the web version
Nintendo Music’s offline downloads are for the mobile app. Download music in the app before you lose connectivity; the web version does not offer offline playback. Nintendo describes the service as available through its app and a web browser, with downloads for offline listening on compatible smartphones and tablets and browser listening on PC or laptop. See Nintendo’s Canada product page and its offline playback support article.

If downloaded tracks will not play offline
Nintendo says downloaded tracks expire if a device has been offline for an extended period, but does not specify how long. Its support-code guidance is to reconnect, open Nintendo Music, and leave it running for about 30 minutes. The exact code and whether the app can be in the background depend on your device. These instructions are from Nintendo’s support article, updated September 2, 2026.

|---|---|---|
| Android | 9009-2201 | Connect to the internet, open Nintendo Music, and leave it running for about 30 minutes. It may remain in the background. |
| iOS | 9010-2101 | Connect to the internet, open Nintendo Music, and leave it in the foreground for about 30 minutes. Do not let the device sleep or send the app to the background, as that interrupts the process. |
These codes are Nintendo’s documented indications of expired downloads. If your app shows a different message, the same cause is not established by this guidance. For the full instructions, see Nintendo’s support-code article.

If the problem started after an Android app update
Nintendo’s support article says that after updating to Android app version 1.7, users may be unable to play downloaded tracks offline even when they connect regularly. Nintendo recommends the same online session of about 30 minutes. This note is specific to version 1.7; it does not establish that every Android version has a current offline-playback problem.
Only one or a few tracks fail
While connected to the internet, play each affected track, then try that same track offline. Nintendo lists this as a step for selected tracks that will not play offline.

If My Music does not load
The “Could not load data” message under My Music is a library-loading issue, not the same diagnosis as expired offline downloads. Connect to the internet and tap Retry under My Music. Nintendo says the refresh may take 10 minutes or more. If it still does not load, use the contact option linked from Nintendo’s My Music support page.

Check Nintendo’s network status page for maintenance or disruptions affecting Nintendo Account or Nintendo Switch online services. Nintendo’s support guidance points to this page for connectivity checks; it does not say that an outage is the cause of offline downloads expiring.

Membership and availability
A paid Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use Nintendo Music, although the app is free to download. Nintendo’s support page says a free seven-day trial is available to users new to the service. Availability is not universal: check Nintendo’s local service information rather than assuming the Canada product page applies in your country. Details are on Nintendo’s membership requirement page, trial information, and the Canada product page.
