Kleinanzeigen search pagination can use different URL patterns for keyword searches and category browsing. A URL that looks like page 2 is not proof that it reached page 2: it may redirect to page 1 or return a page shell without listings. Follow the page’s own pagination link when available, then compare listing IDs to confirm that results advanced.
Why are there two different page-2 URL patterns?
Kleinanzeigen does not appear to use one interchangeable page-number template for every kind of results page. In a reported test, the keyword search for “fahrrad” used /s-seite:2/fahrrad/k0 for page 2, following the page-1 example /s-fahrrad/k0. Category browsing used a different form: the example for smartphones was /s-smartphones/k0c173. The article reported that guessing a page-2 URL for a category could misroute; its live pagination widget could expose a different segment. A 2014 forum post also documents a page-2 URL in the form /anzeigen/s-seite:2/tiffany/k0, but that historical example only shows that a similar route existed then; it does not establish the current route for Kleinanzeigen. 2014 forum discussion
Why a 200 response does not prove pagination worked
HTTP status tells you whether a request received a response, not whether the response contains the next page of listings. The reported category-path failures included both a 302 redirect back to page 1 and a 200 response with an empty results shell. A scraper or manual check that records only the status code—or trusts the requested URL—can therefore mistake a failed advance for success. Inspect the final URL and the listings in the response.

How to verify that the results actually advanced
- Start with the rendered paginator. When the results page provides a page-2 or “next” link, follow that link rather than assembling a URL from a guessed template. URL patterns can differ between search and category pages, and may change.
- Check the redirect destination. If the request redirects, record the final URL. A redirect back to the page-1 URL is evidence that the requested page did not advance.
- Extract listing IDs from each page. Compare the IDs, not just titles, snippets, or page labels. Keep a set of IDs for each page and a cumulative set across the crawl so repeated listings can be deduplicated.
- Compare adjacent and non-adjacent pages. Some overlap between neighboring pages may be legitimate. If page 1 and page 2 share listings, inspect page 3 as well; compare page 1 with page 3 to help distinguish adjacent overlap from a repeated page. The reported test does not establish a universal overlap threshold.
- Treat an empty shell as a failed or inconclusive result. A successful response containing no listing cards does not establish that a valid next page exists. Do not mark it as an advanced page without evidence in the content.
What listing overlap means—and what it does not
In Devil Scrapes’ 2026 live test of the “fahrrad” search, page 1 and page 2 overlapped by 8 of 27 listing IDs, and page 2 and page 3 by 6 of 27. Pages 1 and 3 had zero IDs in common, with 27 IDs on each page. The author attributed the adjacent repeats to promoted listings. That provides context for why IDs might overlap, but it is project documentation rather than an official Kleinanzeigen specification; its publication year is not stated. A practical rule for paginators
Prefer links rendered by the current results page over a hard-coded page-number URL. When you must test a candidate URL, verify both the response destination and the listing IDs it returns. Adjacent overlap can happen; a page that redirects to page 1, returns no listings, or repeats the same IDs without expected advancement should not be counted as a successful next page. No official Kleinanzeigen pagination specification or universal pass threshold is established by the cited examples.
