Space Engine Systems (SES) called its uncrewed hypersonic demonstrator SEXBOMB because, according to company president and CTO Pradeep Dass, its energy made it dangerous and its design made it “sexy.” The name belonged to a proposed ramjet test vehicle—not a proven commercial spaceplane. The available reporting describes planned tests, but does not verify that SEXBOMB ever flew.
Why did SES call it SEXBOMB?
In an interview published by Futurism on October 25, 2021, SES president and CTO Pradeep Dass explained the name this way: “The kinetic energy at Mach 5 is very high,” he told the publication. “It will act like a bomb if [it] hits anything. It is sexy, so it is a sexbomb.” Read the Futurism interview.

That was Dass’s explanation, not an independently documented naming rationale. His reference to Mach 5 framed the explanation; it does not establish that the vehicle reached that speed.

SES described SEXBOMB as an uncrewed drone and ramjet demonstrator. The company said it was intended to gather cooling and aerodynamic data relevant to its separate HELLO-1 project, and suggested the demonstrator might eventually be spun off for defense applications. Those were company plans, not confirmed test results. In a January 2023 release, SES said it intended to move the vehicle to Cornwall, UK, and discussed exploratory regulatory talks. SEXBOMB should not be confused with HELLO-1 or HELLO-1X. SES presented HELLO-1 and HELLO-2 as separate proposed spaceplanes. In June 2023, Aviation Week reported on an optionally crewed experimental aircraft called Hello-1X and said SES had dropped the SEXBOMB name. That report documents a program change, not a confirmed flight by either aircraft. Aviation Week’s June 2023 report.
What flight and speed had been proposed?
Futurism’s 2021 article described SES’s plan to release SEXBOMB from a balloon at 110,000 feet, then accelerate it to more than 3,700 mph. The outlet also reported that a test initially expected in 2021 had shifted to 2022 because regulatory approval was pending. These figures and dates describe historical plans and targets, not achieved results.

- IFF antenna array in front of the cockpit distinguishes this CCIP-equipped model from other F-16s.
- Curved form of the F-16 accurately reproduced with trademark Tamiya precision.
- Moveable horizontal stabilizers. "Flaperons" can be modelled in the up or down positions.
- Full ordnance load including AGM-88 HARM, AIM-120C AMRAAM, AIM-9M/X Sidewinder, ECM pod, and fuel tanks included.
- Centerline and inner wing pylons as well as tail assembly feature polycaps to allow easy detachment for storage.
SES later described proposed ramjet testing and discussions about a supersonic flight corridor. A company news item also discussed obtaining permits for a test, potentially after release from an F-104 or another suitable aircraft. Its publication year is not visible, so it cannot establish the project’s present status. SES’s proposed multi-fuel ramjet test.

Did SEXBOMB ever fly?
The cited sources do not confirm a completed SEXBOMB flight test, a verified Mach 5 flight, certification, or current operational status. They establish that SES announced plans, faced approval dependencies, and later described related programs under different names. A proposed test date or target speed should not be treated as proof that the test happened.
