What makes a Snap Score go up?
Snapchat describes the score as a “super-secret, special equation” that combines the number of Snaps you have sent and received, the Stories you have posted, and “a couple other factors.” Snapchat does not publish the full formula or a point value for any individual action, so you cannot calculate exactly how much your score should change.

Snapchat’s explanation names Snaps and posted Stories; it does not say that ordinary text chats or views of other people’s Stories increase your score. Do not assume every action in the app counts.

Common reasons the score may look stuck
The formula and timing are undisclosed
Because Snapchat does not publish the complete scoring rules or an update interval, an unchanged display by itself does not establish that the app is broken. There is no official number of points to expect from a particular Snap or Story, and no official wait time after which a score is considered frozen.
You may be looking in the wrong place
Verify the number on your Profile screen under your name before trying other fixes. Snapchat’s support guidance identifies that location, but does not document another score display or a manual refresh control.

The app may have a broader connection or refresh problem
If other Snapchat content is also failing to load or refresh, check whether your Wi-Fi or mobile-data connection is reliable. Snapchat lists poor data reception and Wi-Fi access as possible causes of connection difficulties and directs users to its system-status information when Snapchat itself has server issues. This is general connection guidance, not confirmation that connectivity causes a particular Snap Score display to remain unchanged.

How to troubleshoot a Snap Score that is not changing
- Check the Profile screen. Open your profile and read the score below your name.
- Keep expectations realistic. Snapchat confirms Snaps sent and received and Stories posted as score inputs, but it does not publish exact point values or a guaranteed update interval.
- Check the connection if Snapchat is not refreshing elsewhere. Try a reliable Wi-Fi or mobile-data connection. If Snapchat reports a server issue, the score display may not be the only content affected.
- Report a suspected bug. From My Account, open Settings > Support & Safety > Bugs and Suggestions > Report a Bug, then follow the prompts. Menu labels may vary as app versions change.
Does Snapchat+ fix a score that is not going up?
No. Snapchat+ is not required for ordinary Snap Score growth, and its multiplier is not a general repair for a stuck display. Snapchat’s Spanish-language support page describes an optional feature that can make a subscriber’s score increase twice as fast when sending a Snap to another Snapchat+ subscriber or receiving one from them. The feature is off by default and can be enabled from the Snapchat+ membership card in My Account. This applies only to those qualifying interactions; check Snapchat’s current feature terms and availability before relying on it.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you reset a Snap Score?
Snapchat says there is no way to lower or reset a Snap Score. A reset is not a troubleshooting option.
