If your Samsung dryer leaves clothes damp, first check for an error code, then find out whether the drum gets warm. No heat, weak drying, a cycle that ends too soon, and a cycle that runs too long point to different checks. Clean the lint filter and check airflow before assuming a part has failed. Exact controls, vent limits, and code meanings vary by model, so have the model number and manual available.
Start with the symptom and any error code
Before changing settings or restarting the dryer, note any code shown on its display. Samsung says troubleshooting depends on the code, and some codes may require service. Look up the message in Samsung’s dryer error-code guide and your model’s manual; code spellings and meanings can differ by model.

Next, separate the problem into one of four patterns:
- No heat: the dryer runs, but the load stays cold.
- Some heat, but clothes remain damp: the dryer warms, yet drying is weak or incomplete.
- The cycle ends unusually quickly: check the selected cycle and settings, and consult the manual for the model’s sensor behavior.
- The cycle takes too long: check the load, lint filter, and exhaust airflow.
To check for warmth, Samsung suggests running Time Dry briefly with Eco Dry turned off, where those options are available. Follow the instructions for your model. If there is no warmth, use the no-heat checks below; if there is some warmth, start with airflow and settings. Reduced heat alone does not prove that the heating element has failed.

If your Samsung dryer has some heat but clothes are not dry
Clean the lint filter
Samsung calls the lint filter the first place where moisture might get blocked. Remove lint before or after every cycle, as Samsung recommends. A clogged filter can restrict airflow and impair drying. Reinstall it as directed by the manual.
Check Eco Dry and the selected cycle
On applicable models, Eco Dry reduces heat to save energy and may use no hot air at the beginning of a cycle. Some models can enable it automatically on common cycles. Check the displayed options and the manual rather than assuming every Samsung dryer uses the same controls or behavior. If you need a warmer cycle, select an appropriate one for the fabric and load.

Check the load and what happened earlier in the cycle
Clothes that enter the dryer soaking wet take longer to dry. Bulky pieces such as comforters may need more time and a suitable cycle. Samsung also notes that clothes can remain damp after a steam-dry cycle; they may need to air-dry or finish in another cycle. Those outcomes do not by themselves show that the dryer is defective.

A lint filter can be clean while the exhaust path is still restricted. Check whether your model supports a vent blockage test, and follow the exact instructions in its manual or Samsung’s vent blockage test guide. Samsung lists CLg and Cg as clog indications; C80 and C90 are also used in some test results. A failed or clog-indicating test calls for vent inspection and cleaning. Some older models do not reduce heat when a vent is clogged, so the absence of a warning does not replace routine inspection.

Samsung recommends cleaning the exhaust vent once or twice each year. Inspect the full route for lint, kinks, flattening, unnecessary turns, or a poorly fitted connection. Use the duct material and configuration specified for the dryer; Samsung cautions against plastic or foil ducting. Check the manual for the model’s maximum duct length and installation requirements. Samsung’s general guidance says each 90-degree turn reduces the maximum length by six feet, but the exact allowable configuration depends on the model.
If the route needs cleaning, use a dryer-vent brush or cleaning kit suitable for the duct and follow its instructions. If the duct is damaged or unsuitable, replace it only with a configuration that complies with the dryer’s manual. Do not keep operating the dryer if you suspect the vent is blocked.

If the dryer has no heat
First check the selected cycle and options, and confirm that Eco Dry is off if your model has it. If an error code appears, use its model-specific meaning rather than guessing at a failed component. Samsung identifies installation and power issues among possible no-heat causes; checking wiring, voltage, gas connections, or internal parts is not a casual DIY task.
If the vent test passes but there is still no heat, Samsung directs owners to request service. Do not open the dryer or bypass a thermal safety device.

What Samsung dryer codes can indicate
These code groups describe Samsung’s general guidance, not a universal diagnosis. Check the manual for your exact model and record the code before clearing or resetting it.

When to request service
Use Samsung’s dryer support page to find the manual, check warranty information, or start a repair request for your model. Request qualified service if there is no heat after the basic checks, a heating or temperature code persists after cleaning, or the vent test passes but the dryer still does not heat. Avoid replacing a heating element, thermostat, fuse, sensor, or control board based only on damp clothes: the symptom does not identify which component, if any, has failed.
