Andy Edser’s answer to “What mouse should I use for work and gaming?” is two mice: a Logitech MX Master 4 for work and a Razer Cobra HyperSpeed for fast-paced games. His setup is a personal solution, not a controlled comparison or a claim that these models suit everyone.
Why one mouse does not cover both jobs for Edser
In his October 2, 2026 PC Gamer article, Edser describes choosing peripherals around different tasks and his own hand and technical needs. The MX Master 4 is his all-day work mouse; the Cobra HyperSpeed is the smaller option he prefers for quick fingertip movements in fast-paced games. His account is based on personal use, not a head-to-head test. Read Edser’s original account.

What the MX Master 4 does in his work setup
Edser values the MX Master 4’s shape for extended work sessions, along with its quietness, programmable buttons and horizontal scroll wheel. He calls out spreadsheets as a practical use for horizontal scrolling. These are his reported preferences; the article does not provide measurements or an independent evaluation of comfort or noise.
Why he switches to the Razer Cobra HyperSpeed for games
For fast-paced gaming, Edser prefers the Cobra HyperSpeed’s small size, which he finds suited to fingertip movements. He also describes its sensor and tactile switches positively, and likes its subtle underbody RGB lighting. These are subjective impressions from his setup, not published test results or a general ranking of gaming mice.

How to decide whether a two-mouse setup makes sense
- Consider how you use your mouse. If your work involves long sessions, spreadsheets or programmable controls, the features Edser likes in the MX Master 4 may be relevant to your priorities.
- Consider grip and movement. A small mouse that works for fingertip movements in Edser’s gaming setup may not feel right for a different hand or grip style.
- Separate preference from proof. The article does not establish comparative specifications, prices, regional availability, durability or which model performs best overall.
- Choose for your own hand. Hand shape, finger length and technical needs vary, so one person’s preferred mouse pairing is not a universal recommendation.
